Problem saving and publishing new posts
-
I’ve not been able to publish or save any posts today. I can create them and edit them, and when I press “save” or “publish” and it says the post is saved, but it’s not there on my blog, nor is it retrievable from my draft posts. Incidentally I’m using Firefox 3 Beta 5 on XP, but I’ve posted successfully into other wp blogs and indeed into my own in the last few days using exactly the same combo.
Not complaining (I’ve other things to do on a Saturday and I shouldn’t be squandering time online anyway) but I am curious to know if it’s wordpress or me.
Cheers, and thanks in anticipation.

I haven’t had any problems using FF today (dunno what version, but it forced me to update in the last 24 hours) on Windows 98.
Try using something like Blogdesk or Windows Live Writer. That way if you DO lose things, you’ve still got a copy.
This is the last post I see, dated the 19th:

Curiouser and curiouser.
That’s just one version of the post that I tried posting today (I changed the name to force a new URL). However it’s not visible to me in Firefox though I can see it in IE(6), so in theory I suppose it could be a Firefox cacheing issue. In which case why would it not show in the list of draft or published posts in my admin panel? And where did the other version go, the one with a different title? And how does the Easter Bunny lay eggs? And will Santa bring me an iMac for Christmas?
Too hard for me.
Thanks for your attention, raincoaster.

Aphra – I see the same post rain does. I’m using IE7. Try clearing your cache or doing a forced reload. (And when you have time, upgrade IE6. It’s not the happiest camper with wordpress.)

I think we could well have a caching/datacenter synching issue. I noticed it with regards to avatars and sidebars many hours ago; if it’s a synching issue, the posts will continue to appear to change, so there’s hardly any point editing any given iteration, which could turn out to have already been overwritten. I’d say take a day off and hopefully things will settle down once staff fixes whatever it is they’re fixing.

All the different versions of the post are now visible to me via my admin screens, so that’s funky, it’s like they were being saved but weren’t retrievable for a while.
I’ve still got the same issue with IE6 and FF3.5 showing different versions of the blog (IE6 shows the latest version, FF3.5 show’s yesterday’s version) even though I’ve forced FF to reload and cleared its cache.
Raincoaster, you’re right, the simplest thing to do is to wait until next week, and I’m happy to do that though I may pop by every now and again to see what’s happening. Ellaella, I can’t be bothered to upgrade IE at the moment – I only have it for when I want to run different sessions on the same site, or go places using different proxies. I do all my blogging with Firefox, though I accept that I may be experiencing beta-blues. (I woke up this mornin’, my blog done gone…).
Cheers all
Aphra.
