Problem saving screen option
-
I am building a WP site and every time I load the dashboard it is trying to display a lot of content, mostly news from the various plugins that I use. I know you can click this off in the “screen options” tab, and unchecking the boxes does work, but my options are not saved. There is a help document on here that suggests that the options should be saved to both a cookie and the database but that is not happening. FF is configured to accept cookies, and indeed I see cookies in the privacy options.
Is there something else I need to enable or check? Does it matter that the server for this is localhost rather than a “real” domain?

There is no FTP access to free hosted wordpress.com blogs like the one linked to your username and we cannot upload plugins into them.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/I believe you must be referring to a wordpress.ORG install for self-hosting and ought to post where the support bot points to http://wordpress.org/support/
