Problem Switching to Self-Hosted
-
Hello,
When I change nameservers, it always goes back to the default nameserver (WordPress), and I am not able to use my new host. I have done the following:1. Set up account with new host
2. Installed Word Press with new host
3. Made back up copy of blog
4. Changed nameservers to 3 Dreamhost nameservers through the “edit” and “nameservers” tabs on the WordPress My Domains area.I have tried to switch several times over the period of one month, so it is not an issue of giving it a chance to propagate over the whole web. It just always goes back to WordPress servers. Can someone please help me figure out what I am doing wrong, or why its not working for me? Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I’d like to assist you with this.
What are the exact name servers that you are trying to use?

Great. The nameservers I’m trying to use are:
ns1.dreamhost.com
ns2.dreamhost.com
ns3.dreamhost.comThanks for your help,
Sonja

I have updated the name servers on our end to point to Dreamhost, as requested. You can see the changes at https://lifestyleboogie.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains under Name Servers.
Please give this change up to 72 hours to propagate so your name servers are updated across the internet. If things aren’t working for you by the weekend, please let me know.

Hello,
It doesn’t appear to have worked. The nameservers are still pointing towards WordPress.
Thanks,
Sonja

Sorry about this inconvenience. I’ve just tried changing them again. Let me see if they “stick” this time, and if not, I will look into it further for you.

Good news, I’ve discovered the reason why the name servers aren’t changing.
It looks like you need to verify your email address with ICANN. I’ve just requested that a new email be sent to you. Once you’ve done that, you should be able to update the name servers yourself.
