Problem to create a Home page

    Hi,

    I would like to use WordPress 2.3.1 has a CMS. I want to have a customized Homepage and open the blog in a “News” folder. The templates that I use have already a “Home” and “About” buttons in the sidebar.

    First I create a “News” page. The “News” button appears in the blog. In the In WordPress admin/Options/Reading I select “A static page”. I choose “News” for Posts page and I would like to choose “Home” page for “Front page” but I can’t. I am only able to choose from these two “About” and “News”.

    I tried to select “About” page. When I click on “Home” button the “About” page appears. When I click on the “About” Button I have also the “About” page.

    What I have to do to get a “Home” page at the right place? A lot of information said that it is not a good advice to create an home.php in WordPress2.3.1

    In header.php I have these strings:

    <li class="page_item"><a href="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>">Home</a></li>
    			<?php wp_list_pages('title_li=&depth=1'); ?>

    And I do not know how and where to change the “Home “ page link.

    Is there anybody to help me to create a distinctive Home page that I could customize later?

    Thank You,

    gjfo

    Not a problem at all. It’s a common mix-up. Happy blogging.
