problem uploading photopgraphs again!
-
I am unable to upload media into the media library or even to insert media already in the library. I had this problem a few weeks ago and Timethief helped me fix it but I have changed nothing on my computer and the problem is back. Whenever I go to upload new media or try to select the library to insert a photograph, I get a message to say that the internet has stopped working. I am using Internet explorer and Windows 7.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
Please work through these steps below and then report your specifics back to us.
If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/
(a) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
If applicable see here for instructions on how to clear the cache for Chrome and Safari on the iPad:
http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/safari-ipad-clear-cache.htm
(b) Make sure that you have both third-party cookies enabled and JavaScript enabled
http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654(c) Disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily.
(d) Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Add both *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com to your list of trusted sites under the Security tab. Make sure to uncheck the box for “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.” http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#frequently-asked-questions
6. If you are not successful let us know:
(a) How you are connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/
(c) And what any error reports you receive state. -
I have gone though the above list in detail but still no joy. I have been able to add more posts but as soon as I try to add media or upload new media from the dashboard I get a message to say that Internet Explorer has stopped working, after 2 attempts at finding a solution the site crashes and I’m thrown out. When working on my blog last night, I found that I was able to add a ‘media blog’ from the quick blog link which made me think that I could maybe use the text version and edit it but that didn’t work either
I am using Windows 7 on a desktop and IE 9 and connecting via a wireless network.
Very frustrating!

May I suggest the you download Firefox and try using it?
http://browsehappy.com
It’s reliable and I have none of the issues the IE users have. On this PC I’m running an old version of Windows XP and using Firefox. I sail along with zero trouble. -
Hi annebryson,
You might try updating your IE version to IE 10 to see if that helps:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/ie-10-worldwide-languagesAlternately, it would be helpful to know if you experience the same issues with a different browser such as Firefox or Chrome.
Barring all of that, I’d like to see the errors you get when you try to upload images. Could you take a screenshot or two of the errors you’re seeing and upload them to an image sharing service or Dropbox so that I can see them?

Thank you Jackie, I have upgraded to IE 10 and that seems to have sorted the problem. I uploaded one image ok, then next time I logged on was presented with a Microsoft screen suggesting that I allow Microsoft download lists of compatible sites, which I said yes to. Next time I logged onto WordPress I was unable to upload images again so I went into tools and unchecked that box again and now I seem to be fine. If I do have any more issues I will try Firefox of Chrome as suggested. In the meantime, many thanks.

Hi annebryson,
I’m so sorry for the inconveniences you’ve experienced with this, but I’m glad it’s finally working for you.
Have a very nice weekend!
