Problem using emoticons in wordpress markdown code segments.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Regarding my Blog: joecodeswell.wordpress.com

Problem: INSIDE my markdown code segment delimited by `, WordPress.com changes ‘:)’ to ‘<span class=”wp-smiley emoji emoji-smile” title=”:)”>:)</span>’.
I believe whatever is inside a markdown code segment should remain untouched.

    Thanks for the help.

    Love and peace,

    Joe

It’s my understanding, though I could be wrong, that the only emoticons that we can use on WordPress.COM hosted blogs are found here > Dashboard > Settings > Writing
    Writing Settings
    Formatting
Formatting Convert emoticons like :-) and :-P to graphics on display

    Thanks for the reply, timethief.

I don’t mind the change taking place outside of my code segment. However, inside the code segment I think whatever is there should remain untouched.

    Thanks again, timethief.

    Love and peace,

    Joe

    No problem.

Maybe I’ll use your suggestion as a workaround for me until i can get a response from the wp.com admins.

    Thanks again, timethief.

    Love and peace,
    Joe
