Problem with appearance>theme options on Chateau
-
I have a couple sites using the Chateau theme. On one under Appearances there is Theme Option that allows you to switch sides for the side bar or take it out completely. It also lets you make your background dark or light, and to show your posts in summary form. On the other site, Theme Option is NOT available under Appearances. Why is that? I want to change my blogs to the short summary instead of having the screen go right into the next blog. I’m confused since they’re both the same theme.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
On the other site, Theme Option[s] is NOT available under Appearances. Why is that?
Questions:
- Is the other site a WordPress.com site? There’s a different version of Chateau for WordPress.org sites.
- Are you an administrator in the second site? Theme Options may only be available to administrators (See the User Roles support page.).
-
Hi there. They are both on the regular Word Press site, and yes, I am administrator on both. Chose the same one for the second site because I was familiar with it — or so I thought. :)

Thanks for the additional information. The Theme Options page on your site https://promptlings.wordpress.com/, found in the WP Admin dashboard panel at Appearance > Theme Options, is https://promptlings.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=theme_options. Does that URL open the Theme Options page for you? What is the address (URL) of the other site?
If this issue persists, you may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention.

Yes, that does open the ImpromptuPromptlings dashboard. The other site is farlandiablog.wordpress.com.
-
So Theme Options at farlandiablog.wordpress.com should be at https://farlandiablog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=theme_options.

I checked my role on the site and I’m listed as admin. I’m the only user on the site. Using for writing.

Hi there,
https://farlandiablog.wordpress.com/ is set to the Twenty Ten theme, not Chateau. From what I can see that site has always used the Twenty Ten theme.
-
Good grief! I will check immediately because I’m involved with five sites and I could have sworn they were all Chateau. I didn’t even think to look. I will do that asap. If I just switch it over, will I lose anything?
-
You were so quick to spot that, kokkieh. Thanks you tons. And musicdoc1, am so appreciative of you quick response to my question. I made the switch and all is well. You guys are a blessing! Calen~ <3

Switching themes won’t cause you to lose any content. You might need to reconfigure the widgets on your site, but that’s it. It’s completely safe to change the theme :)
Always a pleasure :)
