Problem with "categories" page – posts are missing!
-
For some reason, posts that were labelled with a given category are not showing up on that category page. For example, this post:
http://wondersinthedark.wordpress.com/2010/12/04/21-the-snow-queen/
is labelled with the tag “Genre Countdown: Animation.” When you click on that tag, it shows you the first 19 results. When you hit next at the bottom of the page, it goes to the next page but skips this particular post. This is a recurring problem, it appears, with all the categories: what should be the last result on the page simply isn’t there, and is skipped over when you go to the next page.
Anyone have an idea why this is occurring and how it can be fixed?
Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The seem to be appearing just fine:
http://en.wordpress.com/tag/genre-countdown-animation/
http://en.wordpress.com/tag/author-stephen-russell-gebbett/
Perhaps there was a delay.

staff-blorbo: They’re not fine. OP means this:
http://en.wordpress.com/tag/genre-countdown-animation/ displays posts 1-19,
http://en.wordpress.com/tag/genre-countdown-animation/2/ displays posts 21-39,
http://en.wordpress.com/tag/genre-countdown-animation/3/ displays posts 41 to end.
Posts 20 and 40 are missing. -
Correct – and it seems to be a problem with all the tags that I’ve checked. Some sort of limbo grabs the posts between one page or another, losing 1 for every 20. Is this a wordpress-wide problem or unique to this site?

Oh, interesting. We don’t really have any tags that are sequential like that, and they’re meant more for content discovery that anything else. I’ll have to look into this.
Your local category pages seem to be fine:
http://wondersinthedark.wordpress.com/category/author-stephen-russell-gebbett/
http://wondersinthedark.wordpress.com/category/genre-countdown-animation/

Is it a problem with the html code? It doesn’t seem to relate to particular posts but rather something with the structure of the pages themselves – like we should be saying one more post but aren’t.

Any update available on the situation? It would be unfortunate if this is a dead end, as many readers navigate to older entries via a sidebar, which uses these category pages as the reference. Seems kind of like a waste if they have gaps…

staff-blorbo, I just revisited those links you provided above, and realized they are different pages than the ones I was providing (these being the ones linked up on the sidebar) and that they do indeed include all the entries. But how do you navigate to these pages? Right now whenever I click on the tag it leads to the erroneous pages I originally listed, and the only way I can figure out how to get to those category pages you linked to is by manually typing the category into the web address. There has to be an easier way I’m missing here, no? And is there any way to make the tags link up to the category page in lieu of the tag pages being fixed?

It seems like those posts are missing from the GLOBAL tag pages, but not the LOCAL tag pages. As long as the readers are using your category widget, not the categories on each particular post, they will all be able to find all of your posts.
Staff is going to have to fix the global tag pages.
