Problem with changing of Address for blog

Hello, I early started an new blog because I did not know I could change my address of my previous blog. When I found out I could, I deleted my new blog and the domain name so I could change my old blogs address. I’m having a problem changing it because it says that domain name exsit. Dose it take a day or two for the system to realize a domain name is open so I could readdress my previous blog? Thanks so much I hope you are able to understand my question?

No it clearly states when you delete a blog that the name can never be used ever again, by you or anyone else. That’s why you have three confirmations beforehand.
You’ll have to think of something else for a domain name or purchase a personal domain name and have it mapped to your .wordpress.com account.

Blog addresses ie. URLs are changed by using this process.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/7. The final option presented on this screen allows you to discard your current address. This option will permanently disable the address and you will not be able to reuse it. Only select this option if you are sure you will not use the address again. If you want to redirect traffic to the new blog, you can keep the address and purchase the Site Redirect upgrade.
Note that if a blog is deleted the deleted blog URL cannot be recycled.
