problem with changing the email associated with my account

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello
So I am part of a group that was started on WordPress. When I was first trying to get to the site that was created for the group, I mistakenly made my own account, using my gmail address. I have since deleted my own account.

I used my work email just to get hooked up with the group to which I was invited. But I need to change the email to my gmail address. It will not allow me to do that because it says it’s in use. Can you please help as I will not be able to use my work email for the duration of being with the group. I appreciate your help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

When I was first trying to get to the site that was created for the group, I mistakenly made my own account

This was not actually a mistake. To join a site on WordPress.com you must first have your own WordPress.com username account.

You could simply have changed the email address for that account to the correct one, rather than deleting it.

Now that you’ve deleted it, though, the email cannot be used for another account until the closed account’s data is completely deleted in 30 days. We can manually delete it for you, but only if the request comes from the Gmail address you had connected to that account.

Please reply to the email we sent you when you closed the account to request that.

I have found that my account with the name of RADicalRELIEFandWellness.wordpress.com has disappeared. I’ve had it since 2015 . I useit for physician education (as a library of sorts)with 700 clinical references sorted by diagnosis and month. It was perfect! Suffice it to say, the docs want access back. Pronto!
What makes it convoluted is my site has been down (Ia few times for updates (i guess) so each time somI created a new site . (Actually two similarly named sites(because WordPress was remodeling and they couldn’t find my first one. ( You probably Remember one of those times). (Like now).
The first WRONG SITE was called RADical RELIEF and it was NOT the one I wantED )
Then, when wp lost my accounts again (they said it wasn’t mine, but it was … I accidentally set it up with my nickname).
The second Wrong site was one named RADicalReliefwithCBD (wrong again).
Everything got discombobulated and I couldn’t
Pull up the right one without doing a convoluted workaround. I decided I needed some assistance to sort it out.
The support rep said to change my User names, then change my address, description. But I couldn’t change the name of the site; so both of the bad ones remained active and pointed to each other. We tried his Solutions and they didn’t work and it wiped out my GOOD ONE. I did a workaround last night and was able to get back in and make entries on the good one but this morning the bug totally overtook the good fix . Proof, the good site is gone. My fix and site are gone.
I told support to use their little tool to do a backdate to before this prob, at least I could get my workaround up. Grrr! If we get it fixed this time, I’m sure next time they cleanhouse again alwe will Start all Over again.
Does Anyone have any ideas how to get the right one back?

  • @bodeluc,

Please do not post into old, unrelated threads created by other people. I see we’re already helping you with this via email, so please continue working with our support staff there.

https://radicalreliefandwellness.wordpress.com/ is still online, and the account that owns it is still fully active. Nothing has recently changed regarding that account except for a password reset a week ago.

As the original poster in this thread hasn’t replied in over two weeks, I’m closing it to further replies.
