Problem with connecting wordpress.com site with an existing domain
-
Hi,
if anyone could help with this simple problem – I would be most grateful! :)
I am trying to connect my domain with the site we built on WordPress.com.
The domain is something similar to: xyyyyy.zy (without www.) and I am trying to map it to WordPress.com site I have built (simple blog site).
I have added the 3 NS addresses to our domain, as described in instructions by WordPress https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
Also, my domain has been and is registered but, when I try to map it with WordPress, I get a notification that the ‘domain has not been registered’.
I have also contacted the domain register and they say everything is OK on their end. So, the problem should be on the wordpress.com ‘end’? Or I am missing something?
Thank you in advance for your effort and help.

What is the actual domain URL?
What is the URL of the underlying. wordpress.com site?
Exactly which username account registered the blog and purchased a domain mapping upgrade for it?
You cannot domain map from any URL that you have deleted. An underlying .wordpress.COM URL is required. It does not have to match the domain URL. It can be any .wordpress.com URL.
https://upsettheatre.wordpress.com is no longer available. The authors have deleted this site.
All www URLs on mapped domains seamlessly redirect to the same content under the URL without the redundant “www” which has not been required for a decade. The software will continue to strip out the redunant and unnecessary www if you are entering it.
Be aware that www is an old protocol from way back when the web was new and everything was under separate server hardware. www (www.example.com) was the web server, mail (mail.example.com) was the mail server, ftp (ftp.example.com) was the FTP server, print (print.example.com) was the print server, etc.
These days, everything is run under the web server, making www. redundant and a waste of four characters.

Hello upsettheatre!
Some domains we need to manually add to your account because of its extension. I’m going to send an email to the address associated with your WordPress.com account, then we can proceed with your domain mapping. Please post here if you don’t receive it.
