Problem with domain expiration or it might be grace period or redemption period

    I bought the domain (kaapio.com) through wordpress.com, but after changing the credit card payment it seems it failed updating the domain and now the website is down. It might be Grace period or Redemption period, but is there anyway to get back the domain? The last update for the domain was 2016/04/29 and the payment record is [redacted by mod]. Please check the status for kaapio.com and let me know how to update the domain. Thank you.

    I am sorry to see that you are going through this. Here is what you have to do.

    Looking at the domain, i found:

    Domain Name KAAPIO.COM
    Status redemptionPeriod https://icann.org/epp#redemptionPeriod
    Expiration Date 06-may-2017

    In:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/#redemption-period It tells us:

    After the grace period ends, your domain enters the redemption period, the length of which can vary. This means the domain name can still be renewed, but there is an $80.00 redemption fee required in addition to the normal renewal cost. (This is standard practice for domain registrars.)

    You will have to agree to the $80 USD fee in addition to the registration fee for the domain. Once you have paid, the domain can usually be recovered.

    @dave2swords-If you answer a forum post or come across a forum post where someone has added their email (in a way that the forum software doesn’t redact it), a password, phone number, address or any such type of personal information, including receipt and transaction numbers, please MODLOOK the thread and also add a tag “remove personal info”.     Thanks for grabbing those details before we could get to this thread, justjennifer! Much appreciated.

    As Dave has mentioned, KAAPIO.COM is now in redemption. Domains have a few weeks of grace after they expire before they enter the redemption period. Now, the only way to renew this domain is through the help of our domain partner. To do that, they will charge an $80 fee. Please let me know if you agree to pay that fee and I’ll get the process started. Typically, it only takes about 48 hours start to finish to get the domain back.

    Thank you for the confirmation. I’ve already sent a request to our domain partner about this redemption. I should hear back from them within 48 hours and I’ll post back here with more information once I know more.

    You’ll also see that I’ve sent a note your way via email with more details about redemption. In that email there’s a secure payment link that you can use.
