Problem with domain name
-
My blog is now ready to publish. I thought I had done so by changing the settings. But when I announced it on my FB page it displayed with the ‘dotcom’ address (so I deleted it). I thought I had done all I needed to do to change this to ‘mariannetalbot.co.uk’. Is there something else I need to do?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Marianne!
It looks like you’re almost all set! The last step is to set the primary domain on your account here:
https://mariannetalbotdotcom.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
Just change the primary domain to your custom domain. You should be all set!

I did that Jeremey, and was told ‘Safari cannot open the page’
The explanation was ‘Too many redirects occur when opening ‘mariannetalbot.co.uk’. This may happen if you open a page which is redirected to open another page which is redirected to open another page’
This also occurs if I change to ‘mariannetalbotdotcom.wordpress.com’.
I need to get rid of some of these redirects. But how?

I have been trying to find out more about this problem. I have found this: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-error-too-many-redirects-issue-in-wordpress/ But if I go to ‘Settings – general’ I do not get a page on which there is a ‘site address’.
This is driving me mad!

Hey Marianne,
Yep! Clearing your browser cache generally resolves the ‘Safari cannot open page’ error. I’m glad you were able to get this figured out! Please let me know if you need anything else.

Sure. But it might be useful to bear in mind this solution to my problem – bet I’m not the only one who managed to worry about this!
Thanks Jeremey.

Hi Marianne,
You’re definitely not the only one to encounter this issue. Unfortunately, browser caches can get frustrating when you’re changing your domain. That’s why we include the “clear your cache” part as Step 5 here:
It definitely might be worth considering bumping it up or making it more prevalent however. I’ll take a look!
