Problem with domain name
-
Why does my domain name say pickytraveldotco.wordpress.co with the word dot spelled out instead of the symbol dot or period? I did not select for the word dot to be spelled out. Can this be fixed or do I need to start over & select another domain name?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When you put a dot in the domain, it gets spelled out. If you really want pickytraveler.co you will have to buy the custom domain and domain mapping upgrades. Which you can do from the dashboard of the blog you just registered.

OK. I have obtained a custom domain name. How do I get rid of or change the default blog name of pickytravelerdotco.wordpress.com?
I have already selected the new custom domain name as my primary domain.

When purchasing a domain and domain mapping the content stays exactly where it is. All that changes is the URL and nothing else.
Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading
In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from, and the domain name you desire must be available for purchase, or you must already own the domain URL.
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard at > Store > My Upgrades to purchase upgrades for the blog.
See here if you do not own a domain http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
After you do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

Let me rephrase what I want to do:
Although my site address is apickytraveler.com, keep in mind that your dashboard address is pickytravelerdotco.wordpress.com. I don’t want my dashboard address to be pickytraveldotco.wordpress.com. I made a mistake when searching for available domain names & didn’t know if you type a period, WordPress spells it out as dot. I don’t want that. Is there any way I can change the dashboard address to match my site address, which is what I want?

Hi there,
There is indeed a way to change this. We have a help article which will walk you through this process right here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/
Keep in mind that once you change your blog’s address your previous address will be discarded and will never be able to used again by you or anyone else. As long as you’re OK with that feel free to proceed!
