Problem with editing old posts with New Post format

I prefer the old post editor but sometimes try the new post because WordPress loads it as the default when I try to edit something. I discovered when I edit the posts done in the old post editor, the new posts eats the format of the post.

I lose the paragraphs and end up with one huge clump of words as a paragraph. I got lucky today and it was a short post easily fixed. What was I doing? Changing the category. That’s why I went with the New Post editor. I mean how hard could it be to take a couple seconds to change category? Very. I had to reformat the entire post.

This is getting annoying and makes me really hate the New Post editor. Is there any way for me to fix it or can the powers that be look into this? I’m using Windows 7. It does it in Firefox, IE8, Chrome and Safari.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Oh yeah, I also need to note it does the same thing in Ubuntu 14.4 and Firefox and Chrome on there too.

    Hi there!

Do you have a post I can look at to see this issue? I use both the wp-admin editor and the dashboard editor, and I’m not sure I’ve ever come across this issue before.

No. I corrected it immediately. If I ever use the new editor again [don’t hold your breath] and it does it, I’ll let you know. I do try to avoid the new editor as much as possible because it is slow to load and respond to commands. I figured since this was only a category change, it wouldn’t be too bad but it was worse.

Thanks for your feedback! I’ll keep my eye out for this type of discrepancy when I’m writing for my sites.

One thing to note when it does it, I can’t go back to the correctly formatted version by not saving. It’s eaten it completely. If I click out without saving, what I see on the webpage of my site is the huge single paragraph. I’m not sure why it is doing that or if you have an auto save when we go into the New Editor. It should go back to the correct formatting and the old post if I don’t save.

The New Editor and the autosave function are like a couple in the midst of a bitter divorce.

I’m having the same problem. I noticed that if you use the new editor and save, then go in with the HTML editor, you don’t see any P tags.
