Problem with GDPR Cookie Banner

    Hi,
I’m writing here as I have a problem with GDPR Cookie Banner.
Before May I had on my blog the old banner (in italian) for cookie policy with a link to a blog page I created for Privacy Policy and Cookies, in that page I’ve inserted a link to Automattic Policy.
In the end of May a default banner in english appeared on my blog but the old banner was still there and it was visibile on the top of the right column.
So there were two banners at the same time.
Now the default banner in english is gone away, the old cookie banner in italian created by me is again at the bottom of the page but it’s visible only if I scroll down the page.
The banner doesn’t float over the content as it did before May and as it should do, it is fixed on the bottom and I don’t see it anymore among my widgets in the customize section, this banner is anyway always linked to the page where I inserted a link to Automattic Policy.
I’ve also seen that other blogs have now a default banner in Italian and I suppose I need a banner floating over my posts as it was before so, in the end, I’m kindly asking if you could put on my blog the default banner in italian, I think it’s the proper banner to have.
Could you help me to fix this problem?
Or maybe could you let the actual banner floating over my blog as it happened before?
Thank you in advance for your help, I add the tag modlook to receive help from support.

  • Hi –

I’ve had a look. This issue is with the theme that you are using, and has already been reported to our developers. Given the age of the theme, I am unsure of how long it will be until they can take a look and work on any possible fixes.

My best suggestion is to update your theme to a more current one where the banner is going to display as expected.

Hi, thank you so much for your answer.
I don’t understand what you wrote, do you think they will fix the problem or not?

  • It’s not going to be fixed in the near future.

Sorry, I’ve read again your answer and I understand that maybe you mean that it could take time to take a look.
If it’s possible I’d like to keep this theme, so if it’s possible a solution I would be very happy, in case it is not possible I will look for another theme.
Please, let me know, thanks a lot for your help and best regards.

Okay, thank you… I’ve seen among the themes free theme named Misty Lake, is that a more recent theme similar to mine?

Misty Lake is has been retired, but it may not have the issue with the cookie banner that your current theme has, so you might want to try it out and see.

You might also have a look at Dara or Franklin, which are recent and similar in appearance to the one you are using.

Thank you, I have changed with another theme and now it is okay, now I don’t have that problem. Thank you so much for your help and for the suggestions.
