Problem with getting thumbnail in post linking to larger picture

  It seems to me that WordPress is somewhat unstable when it comes to the connection between thumbnail pictures in post, and the larger, uploaded picture.
  If I am wrong, and doing something stupid, I guess you’ll let me know ;-)

  Yesterday, I uploaded 12 pictures to media library to use in a post I was working with, this post:

  I uploaded the pictures one by one, because I wanted to spread the picures i different places in my post -one by one, and i groups of three. After uploading, I clicked the button ‘Add an image’ from my post editor. Next, I clicked ‘Media library’, ‘Show’ for the picture I wanted and the button ‘Thumbnail’ and, finally, ‘Insert into post’.

  When I do this with one picture, the thumbnail opens to larger picure just fine. But, when I start moving the thumbnails around to get them three in a row – horisontally, the link to the larger picture seems to disappear.

  Anyone have good ideas on what to do with this problem

  it sometimes works just fine. Or not. The small strawberry picture does not link to larger one.

  There have been some recent changes in the uploader that make things more complicated unless you change the new default settings (these changes also produced some bugs when first applied).

  As I can see in the source code of your post, the thumbnails have no link, so they don’t lead to the full-size image when you click them. When you uploaded them you should have clicked “File URL” before clicking “Insert into post”. You can correct this now through the visual post editor: click on the image, click the mountain icon that appears, click “Link to image” (if the URL that shows up has a “?w=” and a number at the end, delete them), click update and save.

  Then go to Settings > Media and select “Default media links: File” (so that for future posts the images will always link to the full-sized original), as well as select the size and alignment you’ll be using more often.
