problem with going back to previous screen
-
It is not always possible to go back to the previous screen. This has been going on for many weeks now, in different pages. For instance, when I go from my blog’s home page to one of my posts, and scroll down to the comments, and then want to go back to home page, I can only do so by scrolling back up and clicking ‘homepage’, because clicking the arrow that would take me back one screen does not work. This is true for both Chrome and Firefox.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

@supernovia, yes, on other computers as well.
Going from homepage to a certain post by clicking on its title, it does not open in a new tab. Obviously when a new tab is involved, there is no going back one screen, because there is no previous screen on that new tab.
As for duplicating the problem, I am not sure I understand what you mean. I have the same problem when reading somebody else’s blog: I cannot go back from one of the posts to the blog’s homepage. So maybe you can see this by simply looking at my homepage and trying.
Thank you.

I already had done that actually. I don’t see the same problem. Here’s what I did:
– I clicked on the link to your site
– I clicked on a title to open a post
– I scrolled to the comment section
– I noticed the “back” button in Chrome (on Mac) still functions
-
Thanks, @supernovia. It doesn’t work for me (I do not work with Mac). Of course I can always click on ‘homepage’, but then I have to scroll back up to do that, which is inconvenient. I do not know what else I could do.

What operating system are you using, and which version? I can try to find a system to test with. And are the other computers the same OS and version too?

Another example: when I go to my about page from homepage, I cannot go back to homepage using the ‘back’ arrow.

Thank you. I’ve tested on Windows 10 and was not able to duplicate this, so I’m trying to find 7 or 8.
You mentioned you have Chrome and Firefox — can you verify whether this happens in Safemode or Incognito mode?
Can you also verify whether your back button works fine on sites not hosted here?
-
Sorry, I do not know what safemode or incognito are and how to check this.
I am currently working only with Chrome (because I have had some trouble with Firefox).
My back button definitely works OK with every site except WordPress.

I tried it now, it does not help. On the other hand, this morning the back button was fine even without the incognito mode. I thought the problem had been fixed, but now I see that it had not. Also, pages take a long time to load.

@adaklara we haven’t changed anything on the sites.
I’m having trouble installing test machines of your exact Windows versions, unfortunately.
You mentioned earlier that this happens in Chrome and Firefox. Does it happen in IE? You also mentioned later that you have problems with Firefox so you don’t use it. Is that the case on both computers?

I don’t know about Adblock.
I am not using IE.
I only have Firefox on one computer, and WP pages take ages to load on it, so I prefer Chrome on both computers.I think I have given up on this. Thank you for your help, but there seem to be so many other problems with WP (tags and stats only for this morning, for instance) that this back button is the least of my troubles. I can only say this: I have no problems navigating in any sites other than WP, and I did hear from at least two more WP bloggers I know that they have the same problem with the back button. I realize this is not very informative, but I do not know what else I can do.
Thank you again for your efforts. -
OK, if you search Google for “can’t use back button in Chrome” there are a lot of ideas out there and different scenarios. Perhaps one will stand out to you.
I will also keep my eyes open for anyone else having these issues. Cheers!
