Hi there!
i’m having problems re-loading the images to individual pages
Could you tell us a little more about this? What exactly were you doing when the error occurred? Could you also share links to the pages where this happens? We’ll be happy to take a look.
There’s also some information about block errors here:
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/block-error-unexpected-or-invalid-content/.

hi there
Many thanks for your response. This is the page link that I was used to working on to add the images
https://cohibaproductions.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php
I can select the tiled gallery and I can add the images from the media section within WordPress and then when i come to create a new gallery they disappear.
The option to choose a page doesn’t work either after a gallery has been created.
I am currently with a friend who is a coder and he got to where the codes and thought it a good idea to forward you this screenshot please see attached.
and this page is how I want the rest of the pages with images to look. I just am unable to achieve this right now
I appreciate all your help

Hi there,
What happens if you try to manage your sidebar widgets from the “widgets” tab on this page instead? https://wordpress.com/customize/
Also please note that there is a limit to how much data your widgets page can display. The reason for this is that it must attempt to show all widgets (from all pages) in one single admin page view.
For example, this page alone is showing 108 images in the sidebar: https://cohibaproductions.wordpress.com/cuba-a-world-of-difference/
If all your pages have that many images to display, then the main widgets page (which shows all widgets from all your pages) is struggling to show 1000+ images at once, which appears to be at the very limit of what WordPress can manage.
I believe with how many widgets you have set up now, and how many images are in each widget, it will not be possible to add more. As you continue to add more widgets with more and more images, the system will only struggle further to display all that data on https://cohibaproductions.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php
To clarify, due to the amount of data you have added to your widgets, there is not a solution we can offer on this end. The only options I can think of are to:
- Add image galleries to the pages themselves (not the sidebar) moving forward
- Delete some of your existing gallery widgets (it seems some pages will show the same gallery more than once)
- Start a new site and continue the work you have here on a second site
Let us know if you need further assistance or if you have any questions.

hi
Many thanks for this information. I did try doing it from the sidebar but I encounted problems because I was not able to assign the images to a certain page.
The page that holds 108 images has repeated itself, there should only be 20 images. I don’t know how to delete them because I can’t see the list of pages anymore. I used to be able to see the images when I went to edit the gallery for set page.
At most I have 10 -20 images per project page. It was never a problem before
Could you help me how I can delete the repeated images? I will then try the sidebar way again.
Best wishes
Kim

hi
I’ve just tried to work using the sidebar and I can see the image but I have problems again saying ‘this block contains unexpected or invalid content
Attempt block recovery. How can i forward you a screen shot?

Hi there,
The issue I’m having on this end is that I am not able to see any content on https://cohibaproductions.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php, not even the ‘unexpected content’ warnings, so the galleries on that page have overwhelmed it completely from what I can see.
To share a screenshot with us, you can upload it to the Media Library on your site, and then copy the image URL. You can see a video of how to do this here: https://d.pr/v/Fcnerp
Once you have the image URL just paste it into your reply and we will be able to see your screenshot, thanks!

hi there
I have hopefully succeeded in following your instructions correctly
this is the url with the first three images.
https://wordpress.com/media/cohibaproductions.wordpress.com1st image: my friend is a coder and was trying to see what the problem was but couldn’t work it out and thought it maybe helpful to you.
2nd image: This is how I was instructed by one of your colleagues to add the images after the initial problem occurred apparently with the upgrade of the widget.
3rd image: Is the problem I have with unloading via the sidebar as you have suggested.
and this page with the 108 images on you can see they have repeated and i would like to know how to delete them.
I am soo happy and grateful for all your help. Please let me know if there is anything else you need to help sort the problem
Best wishes

Good Morning, Kim –
When I go to look at this page:
I see that there are repeating images in the right hand side bar of the site. Before making any changes I wanted to double check that these are the repeating images that need removed?
-
Good evening
Yes this is correct. These are the photos that are repeated and need to be removed. Thank you.
Then do you think this may make it easier for me to resume with the other pages
even though they say I have some invalid and Attempt block recovery?Kim

Thanks Kim. You should be able to click on the images one at a time, then use the
xbutton to delete them form the widget space. You’ll do that from here:https://cohibaproductions.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php

hi there
Many thanks for the above link but this doesn’t solve the problem I have. The link shows me the 18 images and not the 108 as mentioned above – they have duplicated somehow a number of times so instead of 18 I have 108 a duplication of the 18. If I delete the 18 they will disappear from the page and because the importing process has now changed I dont know how to get them back in again. I guess i am desperate to get it going as I need the website to function for a funding project I have applied for.
There are a good few pages i still need to add the images another example is this page:
Thank you

Hi again,
Many thanks for the above link but this doesn’t solve the problem I have.
I think it will help if we clarify that we do not have a way on our end to bulk-delete the duplicate widgets on your site, so we are still searching on our end for a solution as well. As I mentioned previously, It seems that the total number of images (for all widgets) is well over 1000, which is breaking the ability to not only add new widgets but also remove existing ones.
We are exploring to see if there is another way that we can use, but we do not have a solution at this time.
I guess i am desperate to get it going as I need the website to function for a funding project I have applied for.
I hope you will consider another method for displaying images on your pages moving forward. The process you are using now will not be sustainable over time. We are not sure that we will be able to remove the duplicate widgets, but even if we are able to, if you continue to add gallery widgets in this fashion, it will most definitely happen again.
The sidebar widget system is not designed to handle this many images spread across multiple widgets with different page visibility settings, and there is no workaround that we will be able to provide for that.
We will update you as soon as we know more, thanks for your patience

hi
I am sorry I am unaware I am adding widgets when adding images.I am stuck because i just dont know what to do.
So everytime I add an image do I add a widget or is it when I add several images to one page I add a widget?
If I delete all the images and import again this will help me to understand how many images I can have per page. If this makes sense. Or do I export it to another website and import the images again?
Thank you so much for your patience also

Hi again,
I am sorry I am unaware I am adding widgets when adding images.
I can understand that. It’s not immediately obvious to most folks just how resource-intensive image galleries can be. Typically you will just have a few per page (added directly to the page) and that limits the issue.
It just appears you have adopted the style of adding them to the sidebar instead, which is where the issue lies. This is because all widgets (for the entire site) are managed in a central location.
The widget system does have the ability to show only specific widget on specific pages of course, but it was not quite intended for a site where every page has unique widgets… especially when those widgets contain so many images.
So it’s a compounding effect (which you are not aware of) and I’d like to suggest a workaround for moving forward, which is to create the two column layout directly on your blog posts, no need for “widgets” as you use them now.
To do that, you can start new pages by first adding a “Columns Block” to create the two column look, and then add your page text to one column, and your galleries to the other column. This is a bit difficult to explain in words, but I recorded a video so you can see how I might go about this: https://d.pr/v/bzTZ2t
One thing to note, in the page settings I do switch from the default template (which displays the traditional sidebar) with the “No Sidebar” template, so that the layout can expand the full width of the page.
You can also see a nice benefit of this is that the column the gallery is placed in is larger than the default sidebar, so it’s easier to see the image thumbnails.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi again,
I wanted to update you to let you know that we have managed to remove the duplicate widgets from your site. You can see now that most pages have just one copy of the widget, such as this page we have discussed earlier: https://cohibaproductions.wordpress.com/cuba-a-world-of-difference/
Please note that this process was manual, and not perfect. I noted that while we were able to remove duplicates, it seems the widgets that were in use on these two pages were lost in the process:
– https://cohibaproductions.wordpress.com/gente-hermosa/We’re not sure exactly what happened in these cases, but we are not able to retrieve the lost widgets. The good news is that you do not have to re-upload the images, they are all still found in your media library here: https://wordpress.com/media/
So you will need to rebuild the galleries on those two pages (using either the widget method or the “blocks” method I showed above) but the process will at least be faster since you can select the images from the media library where they are waiting for you.
Hope that helps!

hi there
Many many thanks for all this information. I will spend the next couple of days trying this method that you have suggested and if I get stuck may I come back to you?
I so appreciate your time and effort to help me.

hi
I have followed your brilliant tutorial and managed to create a new page with the gallery. However, my page looked different from your tutorial after inserting the images into the page as I wasn’t given the same options as you showed. I have added the photos to my images gallery for you to view and see the differences
I also discovered that I am unaware anymore of how to create the parent page for it to be shown in the main menu of the project pages and also I don’t know how to edit the gallery if I wished to make changes to the images.
this is how my page looks. It’s public but I dont know where it is when i look at the website.

many thanks

Hi Kim –
The page exists and all you need to do is add it to the site menu in order for it to be discoverable.
I have been thinking about this. It might be easier to delete the pages with those widget galleries all together and rebuild them as new pages (omitting the widget galleries). You’d need to save the content or export anything you want to keep on hand for when you start remaking the pages.
We also have an option where we can build the site for you. That might be the best way forward. You would be able to take over the site after it’s built, of course. Those details are on https://builtbywp.com/
