problem with import from an old wp blog

  Hi, I’m trying to import a blog. I exported the blog and downloaded the xml file. When trying to import i get the error message: “Sorry, there has been an error. This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number”
  The old word press seems to be version 2.2.3
  Anything I can do about it?

  Usually the advice is to upgrade the blog you are coming from (about 6 hops if my memory is correct) – since the database fields have changed a few times in the last few years

  Maybe the staff can help – I have flagged this for their attention

  thank you auxclass, I’ve had problems (killing the content) with upgrading the old blog, so I didn’t dare yet.

  no more help needed.

  a little tinkering on the xml-file did the job.

  I added the line: <wp:wxr_version>1.2</wp:wxr_version> right under <language>en</language>

  glad you could get the import to run
