Problem with Moderation Emails
-
Right, well I contacted Support by the contact form but have heard nothing and this is doing my head in.
A couple of days ago I looked in my email spam folder and saw a whole long list of my posts with what look like real ‘please moderate’ requests on them and the time and date they were sent. At the time of contacting Support I hadn’t opened any but this morning I did… first off, as I said before in my email to ‘the powers that be’ at WordPress.com – amongst others I’ve received were ones that look like this:
(email visible only to moderators and staff) [Absurd Old Bird] Please moderate: “How differently do…” 0:46
(email visible only to moderators and staff) [Absurd Old Bird] Please moderate: “Girl,Woman” Yesterday, 21:28
(email visible only to moderators and staff) [Absurd Old Bird] Please moderate: “Girl, Woman” Yesterday, 18:49
(email visible only to moderators and staff) [Absurd Old Bird] Please moderate: “Girl, Woman” Yesterday,18:15
(email visible only to moderators and staff) [Absurd Old Bird] Please moderate: “Girl, Woman” Yesterday, 15:37plus six more for my “Girl, Woman” post and two more for my “How Differently” post.
Okay, well I though these were spam as they are going into my spam folder and because instead of having ‘WordPress.com’ as the sender they have ‘(email visible only to moderators and staff) but I opened one and realised it is indeed a moderation email (though in the past week or so the format of those emails has changed to a rather concise form with a blue surrounding line around it all and the details of the commenter below the text of each comment. I don’t know if that is to do with WordPress or to do with Yahoo.
What I’d like to know is this:
ARE these bona fide moderation emails from WordPress.com?
If they are, then why are they ‘(email visible only to moderators and staff)’ and not ‘WordPress.com’?
And if they aren’t from WordPress.com then how the hell is a spammer replicating my moderation emails that should be from you?
I’ve changed my passwords on both my email and wordpress accounts, just in case, but I really would like an answer.
Please don’t tell me that it’s a problem that you know about and that staff are ‘working on it’ like you tell so many other people. That is not going to answer any of my actual questions and will only put me in a worse mood than I am already in. Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

PS the email that has been redacted was the ‘(email visible only to moderators and staff)’ (Will that be redacted too?)
-
Those definitely aren’t from us, so I’m not really sure what to say here.
It’s possibly spam, or a phishing attempt. I recommend just deleting them as they come in.

I have a problem with comment approval, which nobody appears to be able to help me with either. I have been under consistent attack for a while by a group of people whom appear to have access to my approval, through the use of a gravatar address, which has no link back. The comments appear directly on to my blog without approval,I can unapprove them later, but how can I stop this in the first place.
-
Make sure that Dashboard >> Settings >> Discussions >> check the settings and make sure An administrator must always approve the comment is checked – then nothing gets posted without your prior approval – don’t have “Comment author must have a previously approved comment” is checked – if it is then if they got one by you the comment is approved –

staff-blorbo. Thanks for letting me know they’re not from WordPress.com. One other problem is that I’m not getting the moderation emails that I should be getting from WordPress.com! Any ideas why? I’ve checked my discussion settings and they are as they should be and I haven’t inadvertently (or deliberately) changed my email settings either. Any thoughts?

Can you please forward one of the emails to support@wordpress.com and reference this thread?

Thank you auxclass, have done that. The thing which I cannot understand, it is only comments from one source which were getting through. There is also a problem with their IP and e-mail. I believe them to be a group of specialists, they are making sure their comments are posted. Thanks again.
-
Hello again auxclass, I did what you suggested, however O have just received another comment from the same source and it was approved just like the others. Do you have any more suggestions?
-
Just a PS to my question, the person with whom I am having the problem has never presented the same IP address twice. I now have more than a dozen. Could this indicate something?

Could this indicate something?
Yes. Please include all that information when you contact Staff as macmanx asked you to above > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/problem-with-moderation-emails?replies=12#post-710702

I think Macmanx was addressing somebody else. A wise old bird, I think.
I believe I am dealing with a whole group of people whom are trying to put me under some sort of psychological pressure. They are deliberately incoherent and are are making what could be taken as veiled threats. That depends on whether you believe that forced heart attacks and strokes are part of the arsenal of the spooks. As I have already said comments were being posted before they had been moderated. That seems to have been fixed woith the help of auxclass. The rest was just curiosity. -

If comments I did NOT moderate and approve appeared on my blog, I would not hesitate for an instant when it comes to providing Staff with all details. Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form. -
Thankyou, I seem to have solved the approval problem with the help of auxclass, however at the first attempt I did not make sure that I had activated the submit button. Sometimes it can be slow. That is OK now, however I am not sure what to do about the emails. If they are simply abuse, I can take it. I was wondering whether somebody may have experience of where these things can go.

Erm, excuse me – I’ve marked this unresolved because while enochered’s problem might have been sorted out, the question that I started this topic with is not sorted out yet. I’m still getting emails with wordpress @ yahoo.com rather than wordpress.com on them and they are replacing all other moderation notification emails. I think they are from wordpress.com but can’t see why they are coming through the way they are. I’ve forwarded a copy of one of them as requested but have had no response at all. (I sent it twice as I forgot the first time to put what it was about in the subject field).
I’m now wondering if it would be a good idea for me to turn off my email notifications for a while and turn it on a bit later to see if this might stabilize.
Does macmanx or anyone else ‘in the know’ have any ideas?
