Problem with Mozilla/WordPress
-
Last week this problem appeared, was briefly fixed, but now has re-appeared. When using the Firefox Mozilla browser, I get a big “W” if I try to switch between my blog sites or write a new post. When I switch to the Google Chrome browser, I do not have this problem, so I assume it is something to do with the connection between Mozilla and WordPress. I do prefer to use the Mozilla browser, so I hope this is an issue in the process of being resolved.

Hi –
Thanks for writing to us. I have a few more questions.
1. Are you using Mac or Windows computer?
2. Which version of Firefox are you using?
3. Does clearing your cache/cookies help? -
I am using Windows 7. I am using the most updated version of Firefox. I have cleared the cache to no effect.

Hi there,
I checked using FF on Win7, and it’s working fine for me, so it’s likely something specific to your installation of Firefox.
First, please make sure that JavaScript is still enabled in the browser:
Second, try disabling any ad-blocker, anti-tracking and anti-malware browser add-ons you have active. Those sometimes work by just blocking all JavaScript code, and that causes them to block code WordPress.com needs to work as well. If you’re able to pin-point the extension doing this, see if it allows you to add an exception for WordPress.com.
Third, in Privacy Settings in FF, make sure the Tracking Protection is set to only block tracking in Private windows, or that you have an exception added for WordPress.com.
If none of that works, try starting FF in safe mode. If it works in safe mode, there’s likely some other setting causing problems, in which case refreshing FF (which resets everything in FF to the default values of a new installation) should fix whatever is causing this.

I cleared the cookies, and that worked, but of course now I have to sign back in to all my other sites. I still don’t know why that suddenly happened, but thanks for your suggestions. I still have a gripe about being switched to the new stats format, much preferred the old one, and also now it is more difficult to switch to my various sites, used to be a drop-down in the upper right that let me switch easily between sites, now I have to go through 3 extra clicks, but at least now I can get back to using my favored browser, so Thanks again.

It sounds like a browser cookie then most likely became corrupted, preventing all the data on your site from loading correctly. Thanks for letting me know it works now.
