PROBLEM WITH "NAMESERVERS"

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello Druesome,

My blog http://www.thestupidcommonman.com is not active. Folks at “GoDaddy” informed me I have to alert WordPress folks to figure out why there is no connectivity when the name servers has already been changed as follows:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Given that the yesterday’s topic was considered as “Resolved,” but it seems like it is not.

By the way, http://www.thestupidcommonman.wordpress.com which is registered with WordPress works fine. What I would prefer is the above mentioned site to work also.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello there!

I took a look and can see that you’re using domain masking on your blog. This causes all sorts of problems, such as links not working properly. If you access your blog at its real address, you’ll notice the problem going away.

To properly use your domain “thestupidcommonman.com” on your site, a domain mapping upgrade should do the trick:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Let me know if you have any questions about this. Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You are domain masking and that is NOT support because it is NOT reliable. To do this properly so the redirect is reliable you must stop forwarding and masking. Instead you must purchase a domain mapping upgrade fro $13 per year from WordPress.COM and map to an existing domain.

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

    Hello TimeThief,

I did followed the procedure as you suggested, but for whatever reason unknown to me, it did not charged my account. Hence, I am not sure as to what went wrong?

I also called “GoDaddy” and got the MX record. Another possible hitch
is that, after entering the MX record, it asked for handled by who? I entered “bluehost.” This is my major concern.

Then the strange thing happened is that after entering the record, when I revisited it the changes disappeared.

Furthermore, the “UpGrade” window reads as follows:

    Domain

    thestupidcommonman.com

    Domain mapped to WordPress.com

    Status: Active

This upgrade will be renewed automatically in 11 months on May 28, 2015

My question is, during the entire process, it did not charged $ 13.00,
therefore, I remain confused now. Not only this, I also entered the
credit card number so that it can be renewed.

Not sure what is the next step to get the blog working and mapping
    to “thestupidcommonman.com”

Hi there! We at WordPress.com just wanted to let you know that we have set your new domain, thestupidcommonman.com, as the primary domain for your site, mohammedrafiqlodhia.wordpress.com.

The primary domain is the one that will display in the browser’s address bar. If you’d like to review the settings, just head on over to the link below.

    https://mohammedrafiqlodhia.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

Also please be aware that when changes are made to domain names, it can take as long as 72 hours for them to become evident to all internet service providers, so if your domain doesn’t seem to work right away, please wait a few hours and try again.

Well, now that the payment has been approved, what is puzzling is,
I do not understand why the primary domain is
thestupidcommonman.com instead of the one which I had all
    along, that is, mohammedrafiqlodhia.wordpress.com

As always, your explanation will be appreciated.

    Hello WordPress Experts,

No news yet. I entered “thestupidcommonman.com” and it directed me to “mohammedrafiqlodhia. wordpress.com.

I changed the settings and would like to know how long it will take for
the change to take place. I mean, If I click on “thestupidcommonman.com” it should be directed to the blog and not to “mohammedrafiqlodhia.wordpress.com”

    Thanks,

    Rafiq
