Problem with Pictorico Homepage vs Post Grid Display
-
Hi,
I am experimenting with Pictorico as a web site for my quilt guild because of its great-looking slider and the grid of featured images. I set up a static homepage, enabled the slider and started creating posts. But except for the site name and menu, the homepage appears blank; the slider and featured images from two posts only show up when I click the “Our Activities” menu item, which I had created as a post page.
As a work-in-progress, the blog is private. Will you be able to access it? The url is https://beemodernquilters.wordpress.com.
Many thanks!
Cathy

Hi Cathy,

Volunteers such as myself cannot view a private site such a yours, but I can help you anyway in this case.

The post slider and tiled rows of featured images linking to posts that appear on the front page of the Pictorico demo are only displayed on the post page (aka blog page). If you’ve set “Our Activities” as the posts page, then that’s where the slider and the tiled rows of posts will appear, not the front page. If you’d like them to display on the front page instead, then at Customize > Homepage Settings > Your homepage displays, choose “Your latest posts,” and then click the Publish button.

Thank you, Musicdoc! Your instructions worked perfectly and the homepage now displays the way I hoped it would.
An additional question, if I may: Under Customize > Home Menu, one of the Pages (Members) that I would like to be in the menu is flagged Invalid and does not show up. I cannot figure out what is invalid about it. I’d welcome your advice.
Thanks.

You’re welcome. :)
I don’t know, and haven’t encountered that error before. Not being able to view the site might make the issue difficult to identify. so I’ll call for staff attention. Staff will respond here.

Hi, fstat,
Many thanks! Removing and then re-creating the menu solved the problem.
Cheers,
Cathy
