Problem with Polish characters on Ecto
-
Hey guys,
Recently I started using this beautiful theme called Ecto. I love it, but there is just one, tiny issue. I blog in Polish and this language features its own characters. For some reason, they wouldn’t display properly on my blog. I mean they’re readabile, but it looks like they were displayed using some different font. What should I do in this situation? The language of my blog is set to Polish and I have just basic, free WordPress account.
Thanks,

Hi Michal.
Thanks for the report! I’ve let our theme team know about the characters that aren’t rendering correctly for you.
To help us out with fixing this, I was wondering if you’d also be able to create a screenshot of the text as it looks to you. The characters seems to render correctly on my end, so it’d be useful for us to see how they look for you. We have the following guide for creating a screenshot:
If you upload the screenshot to your Media Library, I’ll be able to see it from there.
Additionally, would you be able to let me know whether you’re able to replicate in another browser or if the issue is just apparent in one?
Thanks!

I uploaded the screenshot and here’s a link to the file. The S with the accent looks definitely different from regular S. I talked to my friend and he said that it looks like latin characters aren’t turned on in this theme.
Thanks for your help!

Thanks so much for the screenshot, Michal. I’ve added it to the report and will let you know as soon as I hear back from the theme’s author.

Howdy Michal!
I did some investigation and it appears the theme’s default font, Merriweather, does not support those characters.
I’ve updated the Polish translation to turn that font off for Polish sites, so you get a more robust font set. It may be a while before the font set is deployed, so thank you for your patience!
Cheers,
Caroline
