Problem with pop-up ads

    Hi

I’ve blogged with WordPress for nearly 6 years and have never had a problem with pop-up ads (unwanted or otherwise) until tonight. After logging on to write a new post, my dashboard was flooded with harmless yet annoying pop-ups for money making schemes and the like. Not only that, but as well as the same pop-ups, my published post now has certain key words underlined which, when clicked take you to more sites of the same ilk.

I understand that pop-ups create revenue etc for WordPress, but I don’t want them on my blog. Is this a new thing WordPress are doing or is it something that I’ve been lucky enough to avoid until now. I’m sure the readers of my blog don’t want to wait ages for a page to load due to pop-ups. And as for the highlighting of certain parts of my texts, well, it’s plain horrible and something myself and my readers can do without.

Is this a common problem for bloggers at the moment or is it just me? Any input gratefully received,

    My blog is http://philspector.wordpress.com

    Cheers,
    Craig

It’s you – your browser is messed up – WordPress.COM does not do pop-ups on your dashboard nor do they do key word links – those are from some add in for your browser or your PC has a virus –

    Hi Auxclass,

D’you know, I went to bed thinking, “What if I’ve been virused?” Thanks for the reply. I’ve spent the past wee while clearing cookies and cleaning my registry and stuff and it looks like my pop-up problem has gone.

    Thanks for your reply/advice.
    Cheers,
    Craig
