Problem with Private Blog
-
Recently a friend set up a private blog on wordpress.com in addition to her public blog.
I (clearly) already have an account on wordpress.com, and I use cookies to stay logged in to wordpress.com. But if I try to go to the url of my friend’s private blog, I get redirected to
http://wordpress.com/signup/?new=[MYUSERNAME]. I don’t want to set up a new blog. I want to read a private blog.I suppose I could just set up a new blog and let it rot just for the sake of reading the private blog, but I don’t want to clutter wordpress.com’s servers. Can anyone help?

You have to be invited by the blog owner. They go to options > privacy and then add in your username.

Thanks for the quick response!
I was invited by the blog owner. The wordpress.com-generated email sent me to a link that looked like this: http://wordpress.com/invite/f3dfffXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (redacted).
Clicking on that link just brought me to the create a blog page (“Welcome back, /nickname/, by filling out the form below, you can add another blog to your account. There is no limit… etc.”).
There’s no link for options on this page. The privacy link in the footer takes me to Automatic’s privacy policy.

The options > privacy is where the blog owner adds you in their dashboard. Try logging out of wordpress and then going to their blog, which should bring up a log in screen.

You can get directly to the login screen by going to http://theirblogname.wordpress.com/wp-admin
