problem with project page display

I’m using a portfolio theme (Sketch). What I THINK should happen with this theme is
    1. the home page displays a gallery of the items in my portfolio
    2. if I click on one of the portfolio images, it takes me to the project page for that project (and not any other project) where I can view any other images or any text that was included in the project page.

    What ACTUALLY happens is
    1. Works just like I think it ought – I’ve got a home page that shows the ‘featured’ images for all my different projects
    2. But when I click on any one of those images, I go to a page that has the correct slug in the url, and has the title of the project at the top of the page and any text I entered…BUT…right below the title of the project, I don’t get the image or images of the projects. What I actually get is a whole page of ALL the projects with the featured image for each, and if I want to see any other images for the project I clicked through off the home page, I have to scroll past every other project to the bottom of the screen. So basically, it’s not taking me to the specific project, it’s just generating a landslide of all the projects, and the specific project is buried in there.

There does not seem to be a way for a reader to access the specific project page for any given project, and only that given project. This problem is afflicting all of my projects, and persists no matter what browser I’m using, whether I’m logged into WordPress or not, whether I’ve cleared the browsing cache. This happens when I use other themes that make use of the portfolio shortcode, too, not just Sketch. I googled for this, but can’t find anything that helps me make sense of it, or to fix it.

    Hi,

This happens when I use other themes that make use of the portfolio shortcode, too, not just Sketch

The Sketch theme automatically displays the portfolio on a page assigned to the portfolio page template. Each featured image in that portfolio links to a single project and only that project.

I suspect portfolio shortcode is the cause of the issue you describe. Portfolio shortcode is not needed for Sketch, though it may be used to display projects in a post or in a static page that hasn’t been assigned to the portfolio page template. If you add portfolio shortcode to each project, then the entire portfolio, or any portion of it specified in a customized code, will be displayed in each project. Solution: remove portfolio shortcode from the projects.

    Hi there,

Seems like you might have entered the portfolio shortcode above your project picture for all of your projects. If you indeed used a shortcode, try to move it below your project picture so the portfolio will be displayed after your project photo and not before it.

    I hope this helps.

@musicdoc1 is 100% correct on recommending removing the portfolio shortcode! Please ignore my previous response ;)

@musicdoc1 You are the best!! I just stripped out the portfolio shortcode from all the projects, and now everything works like I expect it to. Thanks so much to you @ skysthelimit68!!
