Problem with setting up name servers
-
I’ve purchase the domain name from wordpress last friday and have been trying to set up the new name servers. I tried following the instruction and added:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
to the custom DNS records box and it doesnt work. Did I do something wrong? I’m trying to get this website up within this week. Please help! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It looks like you have purchased domain mapping from WordPress.COM –
your domain name registrar does not seem to be WordPress.COM – the name servers need to be changed at your registrar not at WordPress.COM – you might need a zone record added – someone has flagged this for the staff to help you

That’s right, your domain name is registered with a different provider. What you purchased from WordPress.com is a Domain Mapping upgrade. You’ll need to change the name servers with your registrar. I went ahead and deleted your custom DNS records from your WordPress.com dashboard since they were incorrect and would not have helped.

And just to make sure, you need to own a domain name in order to map it to your blog. Here is the publicly available information about the owner of simplymodish.com – is that you? If it’s you, update the nameservers with your registrar for the mapping to work correctly. If it’s not you, then you’ll need to cancel the Domain Mapping upgrade and choose a different domain name.
