Problem with SSL certificate
-
Here’s the problem I just had:
When I hit the “Publish” button on a new post, I received a pop-up window warning:
Safari can’t verify the identity of the website “ampersandvertising.com.”
The certificate for this website is invalid. You might be connecting to a website that is pretending to be “ampersandvertising.com”, which could put your confidential information at risk. How do I fix this problem?
(Thanks for your help!)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
This warning pops up when your browser tries to connect to your site at the URL https://ampersandvertising.com/ (starting with https) instead of http://ampersandvertising.com/ (starting with http).
When you connect to your WordPress.com dashboard over an HTTPS connection, we use an SSL certificate to encrypt your connection. However, we don’t support HTTPS connections for blogs with mapped domains (like your domain ampersandvertising.com). SSL certificates need to be signed to a specific domain, and we can’t provide certificates for every mapped domain, so our certificate is signed for WordPress.com.
When you connect to your domain via HTTPS but your security software sees a certificate signed to http://wordpress.com/ it’s alerting you that WordPress.com may be intercepting your connection. That’s actually fine, since your site is hosted by WordPress.com, but your browser doesn’t know that — so it sends that alert.
You can learn more about HTTPS and how to stop that browser warning here: HTTPS
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
