Problem with statistics – spammer?

    I’ve raised this concern already, but am starting a second post in the hope that it will be seen by someone who will help me – I keep being told that there isn’t a problem, when there clearly is.

    Since last Saturday, I’ve been getting loads of views on the same few posts, all from the same ‘visitor’ – the number of visitors does not go up, and they all show as being in the US, and they’re old posts. It’s presumably some sort of spammer, and it’s annoying because it makes it hard to see the number of genuine views. Is there anything I can do about it?

    I’ve taken a screenshot this morning which shows 55 views from 3 “people”. This is clearly not normal. They are on the same few old posts which have been getting dozens of views ever since this started, and prior to that had hardly had any views for years.

    I don’t know what I have to do to get someone to take me seriously. I have repeated over and over again that the number of views goes up when the number of visitors does not – a few people are looking at one or two posts, as would be expected, and this spambot or whatever it is is looking at the same ones dozens of times. It’s now showing 60 views from 3 people, all from the US – and it’s only been a few minutes since I took the screenshot. All on the same few old posts.

    If nothing can be done about this, so be it, but please will someone at least acknowledge that there is a problem? I’m getting quite upset because I’ve explained over and over again how strange this is, and I just keep being told that it isn’t.

    Creating duplicate threads about the same problem won’t hemp you, on the contrary. To get best help, just stick to the original thread at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/views-from-spammer-or-spambot-or-something/.

    Thanks for replying. I take your point, but unfortunately I am not getting any help on the other thread, so I thought that maybe a different subject heading would catch the attention of someone who was familiar with the problem. I said 55 – it has now gone up to 72.

    I’ll mark this as resolved and stick to the other one. I’m just a little frustrated about it all.
