Problem with sub-categories

  Evening all,

  When I set my blog up, I had parent categories and sub-categories but have now changed my mind and decided to just have a list of categories, no parents or subs. So I edited all the subs without any problems but there is one that will not leave its parent category and the message at the top of the page after I click edit and return to the manage categories page states that “Category not updated”.

  Does any one have any suggestions / solutions?

  How do I get to the sub-categories to remove them from a parent category? Thanks

  Click on the name of the category in manage > categories and then change the “category parent” back to none and save the changes.

  The category that’s refusing to leave home (as it were) is ‘chickens’ under ‘the so-called good life’. Maybe they’re just chicken (boom boom, I’m sorry, that’s an awful pun) but it’s quite frustrating as I can’t figure it out, especially as the other three categories I did the same thing to (including one from the same parent category) all behaved themselves.
