Problem with the red color in uploaded images
-
The red color in my images loses intensity when they are viewed in the blog, but is normal when I click on it and open the image in a new window. Any ideas why?

Maybe this will help. See http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/troubleshooting-images/ and scroll down to Color Profiles http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/troubleshooting-images/#color-profiles

Thanks. Just find it strange that there’s a difference between when I view the image in the blog and when I open the same image in a new window.

I’m on Windows 7 and using Firefox29 and I don’t see a significant difference. I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance because I do not know how to help you. Another Volunteer may answer prior to Staff but I tagged the thread so it will not fall through the cracks and escape attention. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Hi there,
Although I’m not able to see a big difference in color, slight changes in intensity and quality do occur after uploading and resizing an image. If you find this bothersome, you may resize the image on your computer to the exact dimensions you want it displayed on your blog prior to uploading it. That way, the reduction in image quality is kept to a minimum. To resize your photos, check out this list of image editing softwares:
Saving it in sRGB may help too:
Thanks and best wishes!

Thank you for the answer.
I’m already uploading the images with the exact dimensions so they are not resized when viewed in the blog. As I said I can see the image with full colors if I click on it an open it in a new window.

Hello again!
To help me understand the problem, can you kindly take a screenshot of a few photos whose colors aren’t rendering correctly?
Please upload the screenshots to your Media Library so I can take a look. Thank you!

I have uploaded two images to the Media Library. As you can see on the right image (which is the one you see if you click and open the image in a new window) the red color on the jersey is brighter.

Hi,
Thanks for the screenshots! I’m looking at them now and I’m still having difficulty seeing the difference in color brightness. I do see that the images in your blog are slightly enlarged from their original size, and this might have affected the colors somehow.
You may adjust the size at which your images are uploaded in Settings -> Media in your admin panel:
https://halmstadsbloggen.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-media.php
As per my previous suggestion, resizing your images to their exact display size prior to uploading will keep the reduction in quality to a minimum.
In addition, your perception of the colors may have also been affected by your blog’s dark gray background, as opposed to the white background when it’s opened in a new window. I can assure you that you are looking at the same images and I see no noticeable difference on my end. I’ve asked a colleague to take a look as well, and he reports the same thing.
Let me know if you need anything else. Best wishes!

Maybe it’s harder to see depending on which screen you are using. I saw it much clearer on my second one. I have split the two images and uploaded them to my Media Library. Try to save them on the computer and go back and forward when you look at them and you should see the difference.
Don’t understand what you mean that my images in the blog are slightly enlarged from their original size? I see them in the same size that they were uploaded in.

Hi Glenn! Unfortunately I’m still not able to see the difference. It might be the screen I am on, I’m not exactly sure. What I am sure of is we are looking at the same image files that are in the blog and in the new window they are opened in when clicked on. Sorry for not being of much help. :(
