Problem with the Static Front Page in Pique

  I chose Pique as a theme for my new website, it is great but I guess there may be a problem with the selection of a page as static front page: the title of the selected front page does not appear, and instead I can see the page content with the size and the font of the title. Also an unusually large space between the title/menu and the front page content appears.

  I see this problem was already reported here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/static-front-page-in-pique but the topic was closed without any answer. Any help is much appreciated.

  Hi there! The title of the page set to “front page” not appearing is intentional.

  On the demo, the title of that page is “homepage” and doesn’t appear anywhere on the site. The content for that panel comes from the body of the page (and the featured image sets the background).

  Yes thank you very much, this clarify the situation :)
  What about that massive gap between the menu and the first line of the front page? Is there any way it can be shortened and make it look like in the theme demo?

  You’re welcome!

  The space is there due to not having a Logo set in Customize > Site Title, Tagline, and Logo. If you add a logo image there, it’ll shift everything down and the space between your menu and the first line of content on your homepage will decrease.

  The Site Logo is a maximum of 100px high, so maybe a simple logo with your initials or some symbol that represents your business would be nice to add there. :)

  (If you don’t have a logo and want to put one together yourself, Canva.com or CreativeMarket.com might be a good starting point for simple options for doing that.)

  Alternatively, you may be able to reduce the space using custom CSS, however that would require an upgrade on your site to have access to Custom Design. Using a logo is a more simple (and free) solution.

  I see, actually I wanted to add a logo but I haven’t designed it yet. However I have put a temporary one and the gap is gone by shifting everything down, as you said.
