problem with uploading/using images
-
Hello,
there is a problem with uploading/using images to blog.neutron.sharpstyle.com (sharpstyleneutron.wordpress.com). I have another blog (blog.shaprstyle.com/sharpstyle.wordpress.com) and image upload works fine.
Here is what I tried:
I’ve been using Windows Live Writer for the last 2 weeks with great success. Since yesterday I started having issues with “sharpstyleneutron” account. I even tried the following: uploaded the same post to both blog.neutron.sharpstyle.com and blog.sharpstyle.com and it worked fine on blog.sharpstyle.com, but didn’t work for “sharpstyleneutron”. I had to go in and use images from “sharpstyle” account. here are the blog entries:
http://blog.neutron.sharpstyle.com/2007/03/28/flash-ocx-control-and-visual-studio-2005-issues/
http://blog.sharpstyle.com/2007/03/28/flash-ocx-control-and-visual-studio-2005-issues/I also tried using images from wordpress editor. I see the images when I browse, but they fail to insert correctly. When trying to access images directly, i get 404 error.
I also downloaded, installed and tried to use BlogDesk. Just like with WLW, images were uploaded, but didn’t show up in the post.
Please help!!!
I would be happy to setup GoToMeeting and show you what is happening.
Thank you
Mike, (email visible only to moderators and staff)

I’m started experiencing that as well in the last couple of days. I’ve been using both ScribeFire and WIndows Live Writer. Both fail. Here is an example:

hmm… now i am really confused. I tried posting a few posts to both of my blogs and now it seems that “sharpstyle” is not working:
http://blog.sharpstyle.com/2007/03/28/test-3/ — not working
http://blog.neutron.sharpstyle.com/2007/03/28/test-3/ — workingand
http://blog.sharpstyle.com/2007/03/28/testing-wordpress-image-upload/ — not working
http://blog.neutron.sharpstyle.com/2007/03/28/testing-wordpress-image-upload/ — workingyou can also download a word doc here: http://www.sharpstyle.com/wordpress%20image%20issues.doc. it provides some screenshots from the Administrative part of WordPress.
thanks

Here is another interesting fact: i retrieved my “broken” post in LW and images were displayed.
then, thinking that those images might be cached by LW, i retrieved the same broken post on BlogDesk and images were displayed.
That means that API works fine and images are stored correctly. Something is broken with how images are displayed on the blog itself

it looks like images are working now.
without me doing anything…
msoliman pointed it out to me that images just started working

I am having image problems similar to what sharpstyleneutron describe, since wed 28th. Images that I’ve uploaded several days ago, and that’ve been using on my blog (tertiaryopinions.com / teop.wordpress.com) are getting lost and showing up as broken links in what seems to be a random way. It started with my custom banner, which I re-uploaded (which fixed it), and now several other pictures are gone. I’m using very little disk space on my blog.
I’ve also noticed problems when I upload a picture with a filename that has been uploaded before (ie. “Picture 1.png” for instance). This breaks other images in seemingly random ways, replacing them, duplicating or deleting them.

http://tertiaryopinions.com – the picture of me at the top-right is not showing (it did a couple of hours ago)
http://tertiaryopinions.com/2007/03/22/banking-business-is-tough/ – the picture at the top of the post is not showing (numbers)Both of these pictures also show up as broken links when I look at my dashboard. The first of them disappeared about 3 hours ago. I visited the page and it was there, reloaded and it wasn’t. (I do not have any cache enabled in my browser, I run with it disabled.)
Yesterday the banner image disappeared in the same manner. I notice that there are more pictures missing when I look at the uploaded pictures in the dashboard.

I advise you to send a feedback to staff using one of three methods:
1. The feedback button in the upper right corner of your dashboard
2. The Contact Support menu item in the My Account menu at the upper left of this page
3. Email to: support (at) wordpress (dot) comThis sounds like something that may be happening on the back end.

I’m having the same problem of missing images – and yes, I have reported it.
What’s particularly odd is that the missing images differ from browser to browser.
If I try to view http://stonehead.files.wordpress.com/2007/03/pigs01-16-33-40.jpg with Safari 2.0.4, I get a 404 – File not found.
If I try it with Firefox 2.0.0.3, the image loads.
On the other hand, trying http://stonehead.files.wordpress.com/2007/03/donnchadh.jpg with Firefox returns a 404. But the image loads into Safari.
I normally use Ecto 2.4.2 to write and publish my posts, so in case that was the problem I tried editing the posts using the dashboard. The problem still persisted, so I deleted the images and reloaded them using the dashboard. The problem still persists.
I’ve emailed a couple of friends who use PCs and while two can see all the images using Explorer, one gets the same problem as I do.

To make it even more wacky, i just tried those links using Firefox 2.0.0.3 on a Mac, and i got the opposite results (404 on the first, jpg loaded on the second)

I had the same problems this past week and was told through a feedback email to re-upload the files. It would show thumbnails and then after a force reload the thumbnail would be gone and the title would be in its place. Very sporadic and drove me nuts as well. After re-uploading the files it has worked fine ever since. Re-upload them with a different name (I added the number 2 after the original name) and then reinserted the thumbnail from the upload area. Don’t forget to delete the old ones as well to save space.
-
Thanks, but as I said earlier, I have deleted the images and re-uploaded them. The problem still occurs. I did send in feedback but have heard nothing back. It’s extremely irritating to say the least!

I had this problem and it turned out to be related to a % sign in the file name. Now, if I could only figure out how to delete the null files…
-
Yes, I used new filenames. What made me fume was thinking that I’d got some of the images working (in Firefox) but when I checked them in Safari, they weren’t there. The opposite had applied before I re-uploaded.
I’m in the middle of deleting them all from the blog again (third time), re-naming them and re-uploading them. Not what I want to be doing after a very long day of hard physical work as my brain and body are frazzled.
-
Yes I know what you mean. I had them come and go even in the same browser. I just asked because it worked as soon as i renamed the files and re-uploaded it worked just fine.
side note: I am using regulus them also in another blog. How do you make your comments highlighted? Is that with css upgrade?

Here’s another example:
The picture appears when editing this post via the Dashboard, but not when it’s published. There aren’t any “%” in the file name. Here’s the URL used in the img tag:
