Problem with "Used as Aliases" Email
-
Quick question: Can I move my domains sit on .COM’s server? Will this ever be an option? Please? :D
I am trying to set up an email alias for aforgeofphoenix in my Google mail but it is not working.
With Google mail, I keep getting the “Your other email provider is responding too slowly” when trying to connect over SMTP” thing when I try to set up an alias for phoenix.
I have researched this for several hours and it might have to do with A Name records/DNS and MX.
So. What is the A address and MX address for WordPress.COM ?
Possible pertinent information/TLDR:
I have three domains are parked on Bluehost, and have terminated my hosting with them back in June. AAA.com, XYZ.com, and phoenix. The one I need help with is Aforgeofphoenix.com.
Phoenix and AAA.com are pointed to WP, and AAA’s email alias is working just fine. But phoenix is giving me fits.
I think my overall problem lies with Google email forwarding and Bluehost, but I am posing the question here too to cover all issues and see if anyone has any suggestions.
I have done chat support with Bluehost and they tell me they only support email if you have a HOSTING account with them.
Okay. But if that’s so, why are AAA and XYZ’s (used as aliases in my Google mail still working?
Does it have something to do with A records? Or does it have to do with the fact that I set those email aliases up before I terminated the hosting so they still work? Which is why I’m asking for WP.COM’s A Record number.
Thank you very much for staying with me.

After three days of wrangling and researching, I figured it out here:

Apparently, Gmail makes you jump through hoops now to do this, and it has to be done manually.
