Problem with Youtube and last version of Adobe flash playerlast

    Hi!
I have enclosed a Youtube video on a post but it does not work. The video is there but it is impossible to play it in the post. I have permanently the message : “An error occurred. Please try again later”. I don’t have any problem to see it on Youtube.

On my computer I have Firefox 4.0 and the last version of the Adobe Flash player : 10.2.159.1. I checked with former Youtube videos enclosed in WordPress posts without any problem until now. They don’t work anymore.

The same videos work perfectly on another computer with Firefox 3.6 and a previous version of Adobe (10.2.153.1)

Is there any compatibility problem with the last version of Firefox and/or Flash ?

    Thanks for your help ?

  • We actually load the player directly from YouTube, so any problems with the player would unfortunately be on YouTube’s end.

With that said though, I haven’t noticed any similar problem reports, and I’m not seeing the problem myself on your blog.

Have you checked from another computer?

    Thanks macmanx,
Yes as I mentioned it in my message, the problem occurs only with Firefox 4.0. I tried on my computer with other versions of Adobe Flash player but it did not change anything. Anyway I checked on two other computers, one with Firefox 3.6 and the other with Firefox 4 and a previous version of Adobe (10.2.153.1) : the video worked perfectly well. Finally I test on my computer with Google Chrome and the last Adobe Flash player : 10.2.159.1. It works well too.
I do not understand what happens but it seems related to the upgrade to Firefox4. I did not have any problem before. Anyway I noticed the same difficulties to play embedded videos on other sites than WordPress. It is not a WordPress problem but it impacts the way videos can be viewed on the blog.

Let see if some other people face the same difficulties.

    Thanks again.

    1) what is the post you put the video in
    2) what is the video (its URL on YouTube)?

    Hi raincaster,

It happens on all Youtube videos on my blogs. The last example is here :

I’ve found so many issues with FF 4 that I’ve virtually quit using it (which drives me nuts since I use the Firebug and Web Developer add-ons all the time).

Firefox 4 seems to have some serious memory issues and I have to reboot it about every 2 hours, or less if I’m using it a lot as it becomes really jerky and then becomes completely unresponsive and I have to shoot it in the head.

The issue was solved (for me) yesterday with the last update of Adobe Flash Player. The videos can be played in the post now. Hence, I assume that Flash was the cause of the error, corrected by Adobe.
