Problem Writing

This week I have noticed that when I write, the ADD category section on the right all the way down is sitting more left than it should be. I cannot press the ADD button to add a category when I’m editing. I have problems adding photos because the right side is sitting so close to the window where I type. As well I can’t move the print up and down because the right side is sitting too close. Its very difficult to get the type section to move up or down. The print looks very large when I’m typing also. I don’t know what I’ve done.

Yes. ARE you using Internet Explorer? These sound like the kinds of problems we get with Opera or Safari usually.

It happens indiscriminately with IE and Firefox as well. The editor is now (has been for several months) an equal opportunity “paragraph break” stripper and “tag substituter.” One day it works, the next it does not.

One solution is to turn off the visual rich text editor by going to “my profile” in the upper right of your dashboard and unchecking “use visual rich text editor,” click “update profile and then you will be doing all your writing in code view. Some, including myself, find this a little confusing since in addition to the text of your post, you will see all the html code for your formatting.

Another alternative is to use an offline blog editor. Timethief has rounded up all the most popular editors and listed them on her resources blog at: http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2007/10/26/offline-blog-editors-reviews/

I should say, that the next big upgrade here should include the switch to a new version of the TinyMCE editor that WordPress uses, and I am guardedly optimistic that it will take care of the issues.
When that update will take place is anyone’s guess.
