Probleme balise Alt and Title – SEO checker

    Hello All !!

I have a problem with the “Title” tag.

Despite the fact that I entered this tag in my gallery, the SEO tools do not detect it. I have to add the tag manually in the code for the SEO tools to detect it.

Example with one of my homepage images :

Yet the field “Title” (“title “Titre” in French) is well informed :

And here is an example where I added my title by hand in the code

The title is well detected, but it’s archaic to do like that.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hey there!

Thanks for reaching out about this, and clarifying the issue is just related to the ‘Title’ tag. Our team is looking into this one for you to see what we can find out.

Hello ! (sorry for my late)

    I’m using https://sitechecker.pro/ for the SEO/tag.

I don’t know how to use Google Search Console for SEO/tag…
I use Google Search Console to check if my pages are referenced in Google Search, nothing more.

I await your return on the subject, thank you again.

  • Hey there,

    Thanks for reaching back out.

I’ve got some information you may find interesting. :)

The title attribute is shown as a tooltip when you hover over the element. A title attribute is not required. What’s more, most of the time it doesn’t even make sense to add it.

    https://yoast.com/image-seo-alt-tag-and-title-tag-optimization/#title-text

With that in mind, it’s possible that https://sitechecker.pro/ needs to catch up to the modern Gutenberg editor and keep updated.

I don’t know how to use Google Search Console for SEO/tag…
I use Google Search Console to check if my pages are referenced in Google Search, nothing more.

I’d recommend connecting the site via the Google Site Kit plugin, https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-site-kit/ which is possible to use on the WordPress.com Business plan.

The reason why I’m recommending this plugin is that the connection is completely automated, and it’s a one stop shop for connecting to Google’s Services.

It looks like you’re paying close attention to the SEO of the site – out of curiosity, why is that? Has something happened recently to make you think differently about SEO?

    Many thanks in advance!

    Hello and thanks for answer.

Unfortunately, I do not have the means to have a business plan, having for the moment no income (my agency being very young). Maybe one day in the future ;-).

For SEO, I did a complete checkup of my site, having no SEO basis a few months ago.

    For example, for my images:

    • I had no tag entered.
    • the weight of the images was atrocious.
    • the weight of my web pages was too heavy because of an image surplus.

I also noticed that some of my pages were not indexed, so I targeted all possible optimizations.

So I went around the optimizations and I arrived on this problem.

    That’s why I’m here today ;-).

  • Hey there,

Well, keep that WordPress.com Business plan as your business grows, and we’re with you all the way! :) There is a monthly option available if that makes things easier.

the weight of the images was atrocious.

It sounds like those can be optimised, and this can be done manually, as per this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/media/image-optimization/

Depending on the amount of images, this can some times be troublesome. This can be optimised upon upload, using an image optimisation plugin, which can do some of that heavy lifting

I also noticed that some of my pages were not indexed, so I targeted all possible optimizations.

At this point – this is total food for thought, but it may prove useful none the less. Yoast is a plugin that really makes SEO easy to understand as it tells you what changes you need to make to your site make it friendly to search engines, (information on, alt tags, character limits, site titles, meta descriptions…etc) and it actually gives you previews on what the site will look like in search engines.

Using these plugins is something that’s available on the WordPress.com Business plan – so although it’s an expense, it’s also a saving time wise, and peace of mind.

We also run free SEO webinars which may be of interest and these can found here: https://wordpress.com/learn/courses/intro-to-seo/

I hope this is useful knowledge!
