Problems adding comments

  My contributors cannot comment on the site – last week they could, now they can’t. I hadn’t changed anything on the site (settings etc), so could you help? This is for a university class and credits are involved, so I’d appreciate your advice as soon as possible.

  There is no express line for Staff help. Based on datestamps and timestamps we all wait in line and first tagged will be first served. I tagged this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

  It’s hard to say exactly what happened, but the general comment settings on your site were being overridden on your last several posts. I turned them back on for you.

  If you notice this happening again, you can check the comment settings for the individual post on the edit page under “Discussion”.

  Hi Liz and others,
  It appears something has gone awry again. Several of my students complain of not being able to post comments on posts, despite having been able to do so in the past.
  I wonder whether my settings have altered themselves, I have checked the settings under the “discussions” section and can’t see anything that would obviously affect this.
  Please help – students getting very concerned as they have to post to pass the assessment.

  The problem is the comments are being turned off on individual posts. The student authors might be doing it accidentally. In any case you can turn them back on by going to this page
  https://jle2015ug.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

  Click “quick edit” under each post, click the allow comments box and then “update”

  The comments will come back on.
