problems adding image URL into sidebar text widget

  Followed steps to upload image but when pasting image URL into text widget to place in sidebar, save and view site, all I can see is the html code for image. What am I doing wrong?

  What is the image URL that you are using?

  That image is extremely large to place in any sidebar. You should resize it to maybe 175 pixels wide or maybe post the html code for a thumbnail into the sidebar.

  Bingo!! Imported smaller image, copied into post and used the URL from the html put in post and not just the URL of the image given in media library and it has now worked. Thankyou. I have spent all morning pulling my hair out about this.
