PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THE NEW EDITOR
-
1 I have been changing the site in the hope it becomes more attractive to buy.
2 At about the time the new Editor arrived, the site was nicely laid out in Edit mode. but when it was Updated ( ie available to customers), WordPress changed it into a ‘blog’. The two main problems with this are:
2.1 The text has become compressed i.e. all strung together with little spacing. I have been advised that this makes buying less attractive.
2.2 Any replacements are not added in the same location, but at the end of the site. This also makes buying less attractive as the articles become disconnected and jumbled up.
I have chatted with someone about an upgrade to Premium, but am not convinced that the cost will remedy these problems. There is a very strong resistance to buying from this site, so I need to overcome every impediment. -
Hi there,
Are you speaking of https://powdermagazine.wordpress.com/?
That site is currently displaying a static front page, and doesn’t have any section where it’s displaying blog posts. I also don’t see the spacing issue you mention on that site.
Can you please provide some more details on exactly where you’re seeing these issues? If you can take a screen shot and upload it to your media library at My Site ->Site ->Media, that will also help.

Hi, I replied to your queries but received a ‘rejected’ message. Can you check. If you havn’t received it, can you suggest an alternative.

Hi there – Let us try a different approach. Can you tell me how many products you have for sale on your site?

Hi, here’s another one. I have become increasingly wary of stats. I am trying changes to get people to buy ( rather than read for free) so I need accurate stats to determine which strategies are working on a daily basis. Some problems have been;
1 Downloads reported the next day but changed the following day.
2 Multiple Rererrers but (consistently) only one Visitor (new) reported. Visitors seems to be some sort of ‘encouragement’ award.
3 I deleted a number of articles two weeks ago ( rolled into MINIpowMAG) to buy as a mini magazine. These are still being reported as Downloads. How can I charge a price for articles that viewers can get for free.Yet another: Ads ceased when the site was changed with the new Editor. How is anyone going to make a profit?
And the doozy of all: I composed a Tweet with text to buy a story for Father’s Day and Tweeted this every 1/2 hr from 10 am to 8 pm. Although some viewers Liked it, I DID NOT GET ONE SALE from it.
I need to have all these problems solved, or the effort is not worth it, and I will close down this site ( as it is a stand – alone e – commerce one).
It is also in your interests, as social media has to transform from a fun to a commercial system ( here in Aus.)

I have no idea what you mean here. Can you be a bit more specific?
2 Multiple Rererrers but (consistently) only one Visitor (new) reported. Visitors seems to be some sort of ‘encouragement’ award.
Looking at your recent stats, yesterday shows 4 referrals, and 4 visitors on your site. Today so far shows 2 referrals, and 5 visitors.
For what day are you seeing multiple referrals and only one visitor?
A referrer stat is generated if someone clicks on a link to your site somewhere else, and the place where they clicked that link sends us a referrer header. Not all sites send referrer headers, so referrals aren’t always recorded even for referred traffic. And if someone visits your site directly by typing the URL in their browser, they’re not being referred from another website, so no referrer is recorded. Someone can also use privacy add-ons in their browser to completely block referrer tracking.
A visit stat is generated when your site is loaded in a new browser session. If someone clicks a link to your site on, for example, Twitter, multiple times during the same browser session, it would record multiple referrals, but it’s still the same browser session, so it’s only one visitor.
So looking for a correlation between referrals and visitors is not a useful exercise, because no such correlation actually exists – those two stats track different things in different ways, and any similarity between them are coincidental.

Your website is public, so all published posts and all media files uploaded to the library are also public, and get indexed by search engines, whether you directly link to them on your site or not.
Deleting a file from your media library does not delete any cached copies of those files from search engines, and it’s possible for people to access and download a cached copy of the file even after it’s deleted. That cached copy of the file include the tracking pixel we use for stats, so a stat still gets recorded for that.
The only way to prevent this is to use a membership plugin to properly make content on your site inaccessible for anyone except a logged-in visitor who has paid for access, or an ecommerce plugin like WooCommerce that will allow you to upload these files as downloadable products, rather than just files that site in your media library at publicly-accessible URLs.
Ads ceased when the site was changed with the new Editor. How is anyone going to make a profit?
I’m not sure what you’re referring to. Your site is not part of our WordAds program, so you’re not earning any income from ads displayed on your site.
I composed a Tweet with text to buy a story for Father’s Day and Tweeted this every 1/2 hr from 10 am to 8 pm. Although some viewers Liked it, I DID NOT GET ONE SALE from it.
We have no control over how people engage with your content, so this is not something we can help with.
