Problems Changing Blog Themes
-
I am debating changing my blog themes. I’ve reviewed other similiar themes that are the same basic type. For example; two columns, custom header, etc. (Ocean Mist and Blix).
When I preview the new look theme it appears everything doesn’t transfer over. Specifically, text/image widgets seem not to show up. None of my social media graphics in left column appear to be transferring. Is it normal when you change your theme that you have to go back and reconstruct some widgets and/or tweak. Just curious, I don’t want to make a switch and lose a lot of information, widgets, etc. Can anyone help me? http://www.homebuyersadvocate.wordpress.com

Yes it’s normal – you may get everything transferred or not, depending on the pair of themes.
But the only thing you might really lose is the content of text widgets, so you must have or make a backup copy of it first.
In general, themes vary with respect to sidebar item details so in some cases you might need to make changes anyway (for instance, some have a built-in search box so you won’t need the Search widget.)
Since you’ve got several link categories in your blog, forget the (quirky) Blix theme: all the links will show up as one long list.
