problems creating a static front page

    Hi

I want to have a static front page with images on which is the page you ‘land’ on when you first visit my site.

I have read the tutorials about how to do it and followed the instructions, creating a published page of Blog, setting the front page to the one I wanted and Posts to the Blog page in the Settings/Reading section.

It isn’t doing what I wanted though. It does take you to the page with the images on but when you click on Blog in the menu it doesn’t display the posts. It just stays with the images.

I also have CSS which highlights the page you are on so you know where you are. Blog is still highlighted even though you ‘land’ on the images front page.

    Hope all this makes sense!

My site is tracyfox.co.uk and the theme is twenty eleven.

    Many thanks in advance,

The landing page of your website is the blog posts page. You have a whole bunch of other static pages, so pick one of them as the static landing page.

    Hi raincoaster

Yes I had to put it back to this setting because you couldn’t select the blog page at all.

I have done as you have asked and selected Gallery as the landing page. Both this and the Blog page in the menu are highlighted and when you click on Blog the page stays the same and you can’t see the posts.

    Hi raincoaster

I figured out what the problem was!

Entirely my fault, I hadn’t edited the menu to remove the custom Blog page to the new Blog page created.

It seems to be working now.
