Problems logging in on my Kindle Fire

  • Unknown's avatar

I have bought a new Kindle Fire (ninth generation) and am unable to login. I have checked and triple checked my login details, but it not only refuses to accept my password, but also my email address when I ask for a new password.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

I have bought a new Kindle Fire (ninth generation) and am unable to login. I have checked and triple checked my login details, but it not only refuses to accept my password, but also my email address when I ask for a new password.

Ok, can you tell me if you’ve been able to reset the email address via this link please: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

To check also, are you trying to access the site: rozneedlesandhooks.wordpress.com via the app.

    Many thanks in advance.

I have managed to reset my password using the link you sent, though it was a bit of a performance!

My problem now is that for some reason I cannot post on other WordPress blogs using my Kindle, although I can on my laptop. All I get is the following – Error: Your WordPress.com login has expired.

I don’t use an app, but go directly to the websites via Chrome (laptop) and Silk using my Kindle Fire.

  • Hi there,

If you can, I would try a few things here. Clear your browser cache and instead of using your email, try using your username when logging in.

Let me know if either of those does the trick.

Still doesn’t work. Not that there was much in the way of anything to clear out as I have only had it a few days.

I can login to my own website, it is when I try to post on another WordPress website. That is when I get the error message.

  • Hi there,

Are these other sites by any chance sites that appear on their own custom domains, rather than a free example.wordpress.com address?

In that case it’s most likely a cookie issue – it sounds like your browser might be blocking us from tracking your login across different domains.

Please check the browser settings and make sure third party cookies are allowed.

So far as I know The Flight Crew website is a WordPress paid for website. I just don’t understand why it works ok with my laptop, and with my previous Kindle Fire, but not with the new one. It seems very strange to me. I dare say I will just have to accept it the way it is, and be grateful I can still access via my laptop.

  • Hi there,

The only site I see under your WordPress.com account is rozneedlesandhooks.wordpress.com, but it sounds like the site you are trying to log into (on your Kindle Fire) is one that uses a different address, yes?

What is the URL of the other site you are trying to access? It does not sound like a site that is linked to your WordPress.com account (There are many WordPress site providers, we are just one of them) so the username/password you use to access ” The Flight Crew website” may be different than the one you use to access your WordPress.com account.

You are trying to use the same username/password to log in to both sites?

    Thanks for the additional info!

This is the website I am having the problems with, but only on my new Kindle Fire

As you can see if you scroll down I have replied, but this is via my laptop. When I reply to a posting the following is under my post.

rozneedlesandhooks: You are commenting using your WordPress.com

What I cannot understand is why it does not do the same on my Kindle Fire, it did on my old one. When I click on post using my WordPress account, I receive the Error: Your WordPress.com login has expired. I am logged into my rozneedlesand hooks blog, so I do not understand what the problem is.

  • You have more than one WordPress.com account, yes? The site ilvoloflightcrw.com is not under your @rozneedlesandhooks account, so you would instead need to log in to your other account (the one that has access to ilvoloflightcrw.com) in order to administer it.

If you visit ilvoloflightcrw.com while logged in as @rozneedlesandhooks you would have the option to comment on that site (as rozneedlesandhooks of course) but not administer it.

What I cannot understand is why it does not do the same on my Kindle Fire, it did on my old one.

It sounds like your new device may be storing your login info for this account @rozneedlesandhooks in a way that is preventing you from logging into the account that controls ilvoloflightcrw.com. If you log out of this account first, are you then able to sign in to your other account?
