Problems moving to GoDaddy hosting
-
Hey there. I have this big issue. I need to be able to upload a new layout to my blog, and i saw that is not possible in a wordpress.com blog, i need to use CMS wordpress (wordpress.org). I WANT TO KEEP MY DOMAIN NAME, so i just read that i can setup the nameservers to the new hosting service. But my questions are:
1. Changing the nameservers and pointing them to my GoDaddy hosting, i’ll be able to UPLOAD a custom Layout theme for my site?????
2. Ones i’ve changed the Nameservers, I just need to Export the .xml file and upload it to the new installed wordpress in GoDaddy hosting???
I’ll appreciate the help. Or any better idea. Thanks

Hi there,
You are right on the money. You will be able to upload your own theme and you will just need to perform and export/import in order to get your posts and pages over to your new site.
Now you CAN just change your Nameservers over, but we generally recommend that if you are moving your hosting over to GoDaddy, that you transfer your domain as well. In your case, your domain is over 60 days old, which means that it is eligible for transfer. That way you can have everything in one place and it will be significantly less complicated for you.
You will need to purchase a transfer from GoDaddy (it will include a one year renewal, so it is actually an excellent deal), and then you’ll need to follow this walkthrough on how to temporarily cancel your privacy, unlock your domain, and get your authorization code sent to you. Once you do all of that, it can be transferred over to your GoDaddy account in a matter of minutes.
Let me know if you have any questions!
