Problems putting RSS in sidebar
-
Hi,
So, I just created my blog and want to put the RSS link. I found the “put your feed in your sidebar” faq and did everything it says, but for some reason the image location disappears and the html just reads: <img>, without the location. So what I get on my blog is that my sidebar links disappear, and all I see is “Premiere Tracker RSS” and an error image. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Is this the blog you are talking about http://premieretracker.wordpress.com/ ? If you copied and pasted from the FAQ, that can cause the issue since the FAQ uses some special coding to get the code to display instead of it being interpreted. You can change the image URL I used below, and you can also change the text I put after the image (which is also linked to your feed.
<a href="http://premieretracker.wordpress.com/feed/"><img class="alignnone" title="rss feed" src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/c28.png" alt="rss feed" /></a><a href="http://premieretracker.wordpress.com/feed/"> Subscribe to my feed</a> -
Thank! The code works, but the sidebar still disappears. How do I put it under all the other links?
-
If you had not yet added any widgets to the sidebar, what you were seeing was a theme-generated sample display of widgets. That sample display will disappear when you add a widget. Simply drag and drop whichever widgets you wish into the sidebar and arrange them as you see fit.

I meant the sidebar disappears on the actual blog page: http://premieretracker.wordpress.com/. The other pages, blogroll and stuff is gone.
-
That is because of what I said above. If you go to appearance > widgets, in the sidebar section, what is showing there?

Drag the other widget you want in the sidebar over and into the sidebar.
The sample set you were seeing was only a faux display of widgets created by the theme you are using. They all disappear once you physically add a widget to the sidebar and you then have to manually add in the widgets you want and arrange them the way you want.

Oooooh okay, I get it, sorry it took me a while, lol. Thank you so much for your much-appreciated help!!

There are also tons of free RSS images on the internet. Just search for “free rss icons” and you will get many hits.
