Problems setting up a new website
-
I have a URL http://www.persisgranger.com the directs to a paid WordPress website https://persisgranger.wordpress.com/. I will be letting that website go because I have to pare expenses (sorry!) and started today to set up a new free wordpress site. I kept encountering problems — ‘that User name is not available’ and ‘That email address is not available,’ etc. I started to create new user name and email and so on and began to realize how confusing all this is going to be to remember. If I wait until the original paid website goes down (renewal fee is due now), will I then be able to use the same site name and user name and email address? To further complicate things, I’ll also a use on another WP paid site and I’m wondering if those logins, passwords, etc., are causing more problems with my current attempt to set up the new site. I’d like to undo all of what I started setting up this a.m. and start fresh because I’m totally confused!

The short answer is “yes”.
If you let your custom domain and WordPress.com Personal plan expire, you will still be able to access your site content at https://persisgranger.wordpress.com/. You will still be able to log into your original user account as well.
No need to create new sites or user accounts.
