Problems sharing formerly private site (now public) on Facebook
-
I recently made a private blog public and have tried sharing on Facebook. Unfortunately, Facebook considers the site to be private still– when sharing the homepage directly on Facebook or when clicking the Facebook share icon on individual pages.
It doesn’t happen when sharing individual pages directly on Facebook, only with the homepage. I’ve changed the settings. Is there anything I can do on the WordPress end?
The site is using WP’s Oxygen theme.
Thanks!

Hi there!
Have you tried disconnecting your current connection to Facebook and reconnecting it? Facebook might be retaining the information about your site from the first time you connected it.
Let me know if that doesn’t take care of it and I’ll be happy to look into it further.

Thank you for your reply!
If “disconnecting” means undoing the Facebook connection through Publicize, I already tried that. I deleted the Facebook stream widget, then added it again. I changed our page name and reconnected both the widget and the Publicize function. Perhaps there is something I should be doing through Facebook itself, but I can’t find any documentation on it. Again, the problem is only with the home page, not any other page.
Thanks for any advice you can give!

Hi there!
It sounds like something is still being retained on Facebook’s end. Can you try these two things?
1. Flushing your FB cache but disconnect from FB first http://umairj.com/146/how-to-clear-facebook-shares-cache/
2. The full reconnect procedure again detailed at http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#reconnecting-facebook including step 3 (removing the FB app), which is probably the most important step.
Let me know if that helps!

Thank you very much! It all worked out using the Facebook debugger. I appreciate your help and the useful links!
