Problems that have been going on for months

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a very big problem: I go on my site to check to see if things are in order and such. There will be a period of time where I don’t log on to check my site (such as a time period of about maybe 3-5 days or more). After that period I will come back on as usual. When I go to check my site as usual, I will see that things are out of order, old problems from weeks or months ago that I have already fixed are back, and my site is not as it should be or how I wanted it to look. About maybe half an hour ago before I typed this I had this problem, and I had to redo all the settings I had and repost things again. I’ve been saving as usual and as often as I can, and I don’t know why this is happening but it is REALLY getting very annoying. I have also had to repost posts or other things again after a period of about 3-5 days or more. This has been going on for months, and I would appreciate it very much if you were to fix this. I would’ve said this sooner but I assumed it was a minor technical problem, so I let it be. Please fix this issue, and thank you for reading this.

Can you give some specifics about what has changes? Screenshots of before and after would be useful if you have any.

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m sorry but without very specific details about exactly what has changed and where exactly it is that it changed we cannot help you. Please provide your details including post and page URLs and screenshots now.

You can use http://snag.gy/ to share screenshots. Or you can use the WordPress.com guide I link to http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/”>a screenshot and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.

I do not have any screen shots, but I will describe the problems as best as I can (I use the Twenty-Fourteen theme for my site).
~Links that I have recently put on my home page have vanished as if they were never there and I have had to repost them again.
~Links that I have put in my list of links in my dashboard are gone and I have had to look for them again instead of it being saved after I have already saved it days ago (I save constantly).
~Things that I have added in my “About” page (such as pictures or additional words) are gone and I instead have the version before I edited it.
~Some posts I put under my categories (after about 3-5 days) are gone as if they were never there and I have had to repost them.
~Additions to posts I have already posted are gone after 3-5 days.
~Other pages I have had and edited are changed to the version I had before editing them.
~Often I have had comments taken off that have already been approved.
~On my dashboard the amount of posts I have in the “At a Glance” section are lower than they should be.
I hoped this was a better explanation for you.

I’m sorry but that’s all very vague and could be the result of browser related issues or even connectivity issues.

Ok. Umm what’s subscribing and how do I subscribe? And thank you for helping.

    1. Look in the sidebar of this threads and find the subscribe to topics link.
    2. Look below the comment box:

I’m still a bit confused… (sorry. I don’t really know too much technical stuff). It says at the top of this topic “you are already subscribed to this topic” Is that it?

  • Unknown's avatar

If you are already getting emails every time I respond then you are already subscribed to this thread.

  • Unknown's avatar

Ok cool. Thank you very much! :D

  • Unknown's avatar

You’re welcome. Do understand that all Staff will have to work with is the information you have provided and what you provided is vague.

  • Unknown's avatar

What do you wish for me to explain?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am sorry I said that. Please let’s top communicating in this thread because we are moving the timestamps forward when we do that, and doing that means it will take longer to get Staff help.

    Hi there!

It would be really helpful if you could give me at least one specific example of a change.

For example, on Monday I added the sentence “This is an awesome blog.” to my About page. And when I came back three days later, that sentence wasn’t there anymore.

It sounds like you’re making edits while disconnected from the internet, or over a weak connection. So the changes aren’t actually sent to our servers to store.

  • Unknown's avatar

I still do not have pictures (super sorry about that), but I will describe it to the best of my ability. In my dashboard where you have the “At a Glance” box, I have 34 posts, 4 comments, and 4 pages now. Before I had about 9 comments and 5 pages, the amount of posts the same. Now I do have a little bit of an unstable internet though… I think you may be right when you said the changes weren’t getting to your servers.
Now when I went to check my site everything was fine. I had my home page as I wanted it (links and all), everything was in order, and the bar I have below my picture for my site (I have the Twenty Fourteen theme) had my “Home” page, “About” page, my “News” and “News pics” page, and my recently added “Categories” page. I then went to my dashboard for a bit and I then went to the “Read blog” button (when you roll over your user name–roll over to your site name–and click on “Read Blog”) to look at my blog, and when I get to my home page things are off and my new page is gone.

My “News” page had one picture of a cool-looking green car at night with a caption under it and had about 4 comments and 2 likes. Now the picture is gone and only one comment is there. Everything else on my site is fine except these things.

  • I know what the issue is and can help you sort it out.

Take a look at your site now, is this how it is supposed to look?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes! That’s exactly how it’s supposed to look! :D Sorry got excited. :)
